Acer’s New Predator Helios 18 AI Packs RTX 5090 Graphics, While Nitro Blaze Link Reinvents Handheld Gaming
7 hours ago
Leading the announcement is the flagship Predator Helios 18 AI, a desktop-class gaming laptop powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. Acer is also introducing the new Nitro 16, its first gaming laptop equipped with AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor, alongside an entirely new category of gaming device called the Nitro Blaze Link.
The company also unveiled the Predator Aethon 750 TKL gaming keyboard and Predator Robust Plus Backpack, completing a gaming ecosystem that stretches from desktop replacement laptops to portable gaming accessories.
Predator Helios 18 AI Is Acer’s Most Powerful Gaming Laptop Yet
The biggest star of Acer’s COMPUTEX showcase is undoubtedly the Predator Helios 18 AI.
Built for enthusiast gamers, esports competitors and content creators, the laptop combines Intel’s flagship Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU based on NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell architecture.
With support for DLSS 4.5 and advanced AI-powered rendering technologies, Acer says the system is capable of delivering next-generation gaming performance alongside enhanced content creation capabilities.
Unlike many gaming laptops that force compromises between portability and power, the Helios 18 AI is clearly designed as a true desktop replacement. The laptop supports up to an incredible 256GB of memory and as much as 6TB of storage, giving users enough room for massive game libraries, video projects and professional workloads.
Dual-Mode 4K Display Gives Gamers the Best of Both WorldsOne of the most interesting features of the Predator Helios 18 AI is its Dual-Mode Mini LED display.
The massive 18-inch WQUXGA panel supports 4K resolution at 120Hz for visually stunning gaming experiences, but users can also switch to Full HD mode at 240Hz for esports titles where frame rates matter more than resolution.
With up to 1000 nits HDR brightness, Calman verification and full 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, the display is equally suited for content creators who demand colour accuracy.
This flexibility allows gamers to optimise the display based on the game they are playing, something that remains relatively uncommon even among premium gaming laptops.
Acer’s New Cooling System Gets Even More Aggressive
Powerful hardware requires serious cooling, and Acer has significantly upgraded the thermal system inside the Helios 18 AI.
The laptop uses dual 6th Generation Predator AeroBlade 3D fans featuring 100 ultra-thin metal blades measuring just 0.05mm thick. Acer claims the design delivers up to 20% better airflow compared to conventional plastic fan systems.
Supporting the fans are vector heat pipes and liquid metal thermal compound, helping the laptop sustain higher performance during demanding gaming sessions.
For gamers pushing RTX 5090-level hardware, effective cooling could make a significant difference in maintaining stable frame rates over extended periods.
Predator Vox Brings Premium Audio to Gaming LaptopsAcer is also focusing heavily on audio quality.
The Predator Helios 18 AI introduces Predator Vox, a proprietary six-speaker system designed to improve audio positioning, clarity and immersion. Acer says the system uses a specialised internal tube structure to improve sound projection while reducing distortion at higher volumes.
Combined with the large display and powerful graphics, the audio setup aims to create a more immersive gaming experience without requiring external speakers or headphones.
Nitro 16 Brings AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX3D to Acer Gaming Laptops
While the Helios 18 AI targets enthusiasts, Acer is also making high-end gaming more accessible through the new Nitro 16.
The laptop becomes Acer’s first gaming notebook powered by AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor, featuring second-generation AMD 3D V-Cache technology designed specifically to boost gaming performance.

Paired with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, the Nitro 16 delivers flagship-level gaming hardware at a more accessible price point.
Acer has also equipped the system with a WQXGA display featuring up to a 240Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage and a response time as low as 3ms, making it suitable for both competitive and immersive gaming experiences.
Nitro Blaze Link Creates a New Kind of Gaming Handheld
Perhaps the most surprising announcement is the Nitro Blaze Link.
Unlike traditional gaming handhelds such as the ROG Ally, Legion Go or MSI Claw, the Nitro Blaze Link is not designed to run games locally. Instead, Acer describes it as a streaming-first handheld that extends an existing gaming PC setup.
The concept is simple: gamers can stream games directly from devices like the Predator Helios 18 AI or Nitro 16 to the handheld, allowing them to continue playing anywhere around the house without needing another powerful gaming PC.
This makes it particularly useful for households where multiple users share a single gaming system.
Lightweight Design With 7-Inch Display
The Nitro Blaze Link features a 7-inch WUXGA touchscreen display designed for smooth game streaming and responsive controls.
Weighing just 464 grams, the handheld is significantly lighter than many competing Windows gaming handhelds. Acer says the device’s balanced weight distribution and ergonomic grip design help improve comfort during longer gaming sessions.
The handheld also includes dual 2W speakers tuned to prioritise dialogue clarity and important in-game audio cues.
Powered by Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Acer says the Nitro Blaze Link is optimised to deliver low-latency game streaming while maintaining visual quality.
Predator Aethon 750 TKL Targets Competitive Gamers
Acer is also expanding its gaming accessory lineup with the Predator Aethon 750 TKL.
The tournament-focused keyboard features custom Predator Magnetic Switches, adjustable actuation points and an ultra-fast 8000Hz polling rate designed to reduce latency during competitive gameplay.
Gamers can connect through wired, Bluetooth or 2.4GHz wireless modes, while Predator QuarterMaster 2.0 software allows deeper customisation of profiles, macros and RGB lighting effects.
The compact tenkeyless design also frees up desk space for lower mouse sensitivity setups commonly preferred by esports players.
Acer Is Building a Complete Gaming EcosystemWhat stands out most from Acer’s COMPUTEX 2026 announcements is the company’s growing focus on creating a complete gaming ecosystem.
From the flagship Predator Helios 18 AI and value-focused Nitro 16 to the innovative Nitro Blaze Link streaming handheld, Acer is no longer simply competing in individual hardware categories. Instead, it is building an interconnected gaming platform that caters to different gaming styles and use cases.
For gamers looking for desktop-class performance, portable gaming flexibility and a cohesive ecosystem, Acer’s latest Predator and Nitro lineup may be one of its strongest gaming launches in recent years.
