Tunku Nadzaruddin barred from leaving hotel in Melaka

TAMPIN – Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Jaafar, who was scheduled to attend an official event at Tunku Besar Tampin Official Residence Hall here on Friday, is believed to have been barred by police from leaving a hotel in Melaka.

Negeri Sembilan cultural and adat figure Tan Sri Rais Yatim informed reporters of the matter after he was seen rushing to leave the residence of the Tunku Besar Tampin.

He alleged that the action was intended to prevent Tunku Nadzaruddin from attending the official event.

“Tunku was at the hotel and wanted to come here (the Official Residence Hall of the Tunku Besar Tampin), but was barred.

“He was also reportedly to be taken to Kuala Lumpur. A person has personal rights under the law. One should not be forced or subjected to any restriction that may amount, in legal terms, to false imprisonment,” he said.

However, as of now, police have yet to issue any statement regarding the matter.

Media attempted to contact Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, for further information, but was unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, in Melaka, Undang Jelebu, Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad was furious after being barred from meeting Tunku Nadzaruddin at a hotel here.

He, who was seen accompanied by Alzafny to the hotel lobby in a dissatisfied state, also questioned the actions of the authorities.
