A passenger’s first ride on the newly opened Shah Alam Line turned into an unsettling experience after the train allegedly stopped unexpectedly, followed by a loud bang and sparks.

The passenger shared videos of the incident on social media, claiming that he and other commuters were eventually asked to leave the train and continue their journey on the next service.

Train stopped between stations

According to Sin Chew Daily, he boarded the train at Stadium Shah Alam station at around 7pm on July 5 and was heading towards Bandar Utama station.

While the train was travelling towards Kerjaya station, it suddenly stopped on the elevated track.

The unexpected stop reportedly caused some passengers to panic.

However, the train resumed its journey about two minutes later.

Loud bang and smoke seen outside train

The passenger claimed that another incident occurred after the train passed Damansara Idaman station.

A loud sound resembling an explosion was allegedly heard from outside the train.

Smoke could also be seen through the window, causing concern among passengers on board.

The train later arrived at the next station, where all passengers were instructed to get off and wait for another train to continue their journey.

Sparks seen coming from empty train

Towards the end of the video, the affected train could be seen leaving the station without passengers.

Sparks and loud noises appeared to be coming from the rear section of the train as it moved away.

The passenger said the next train arrived at around 7.34pm. He eventually reached Bandar Utama station at 7.42pm.

As of the time of writing, Rapid KL has yet to issue an official statement regarding the alleged incident.
