PKR Deputy President Wanted To Leave, PKR Asked Her To Stay, But Both Are Now True

PKR said no; PKR also said she is on leave.

The party then confirmed she will open the Wanita and Angkatan Muda congress on 14 August.

She is, simultaneously, on leave and on the programme.

PKR’s Central Leadership Council, the Majlis Pimpinan Pusat (MPP), met today and issued a media statement signed by Information Chief Fahmi Fadzil.

The statement confirmed three things:

The leave begins after the PKR National Congress 2026.

The end date is described as “a date to be announced.”

Saifuddin Nasution is a Vice President with no public faction, no rival bloc, and no known ambition for the top post.

He was not promoted.

He was placed, and the distinction matters.

A promotion signals succession — that the party has moved on.

A placement signals the opposite: the seat is warm because the party expects someone to return to it.

Nurul Izzah has not been replaced; she has been paused.

Despite the leave, Nurul Izzah remains listed to officiate the Wanita and Angkatan Muda KEADILAN (AMK) congress on 14 August.

The statement does not explain how a person on leave opens a national congress.

The MPP also approved 3,533 new members registered online between 12 July and August 2026.

It is the last line of the statement.

In a document about a Deputy President asking to leave, the party closed with a membership figure.

Former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, in a social media commentary, described Nurul Izzah as having been made “a ball kicked around in political manoeuvring” — a characterisation that the MPP statement, with its careful silence on reasons, does little to contradict.
