Netflix’s 'Outer Banks' Season 5 Cast & Character Guide 

Netflix’s fan-favorite teenage treasure-hunting drama, Outer Banks, has finally come to an end after five glorious seasons of family-friendly adventuring. The show wouldn’t be what it is without the characters, and the cast that plays those roles so perfectly. The show follows the Pogues, a group of 6 young people, who just happen to find themselves going on crazy adventures. The 4th season unfortunately ended with the death of a very beloved character, which left us wondering if it was even worth coming back to the show. Let me tell you right now that it definitely is worth coming back to, because despite everything, the final season is sweet, and ends on a wholesome note. But with that said, let’s get into this cast and character guide for Outer Banks season 5.

Chase Stokes As John B

Chase Stokes’ first television role was in an episode of Stranger Things all the way back in 2016. Since then, he’s been in shows like Tell Me Your Secrets, Daytime Divas, and The First. He’s also been in movies like Dr. Bird’s Advice For Sad Poets, Marked Men, and Valiant One. John B is the leader of the group, and feels responsible for everybody, but he kind of takes the backseat in season 5.

Madelyn Cline As Sarah 

Madelyn Cline also appeared in two episodes of Stranger Things back in 2017, playing Tina in season 2. Besides that, she’s also appeared in the shows The Originals, Vice Principals, and Maid To Order. If you’re more of a movie buff, you might recognize her as Whiskey in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and she’s also been in I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Map That Leads To You. Sarah starts this season off pregnant. She is ready for a new kind of adventure, but before that begins, John B and she will have to go through some tests before they can start their new lives.

Madison Bailey As Kiara 

Madison Bailey got her start in the Constantine show back in 2015, and she’s since been in shows like Black Lightning, Council Of Dads, and Creepshow. She’s also been in films like Discarded Things, Maintenance Required, and Girl Dad. Kiara is the main character this season. She’s all about revenge for JJ, and that’s the only thing on her mind. She does end up getting separated from the group on multiple occasions, but hey, it’s all about their friendship at the end of the day.

Jonathan Daviss As Pope 

Jonathan Daviss, who also goes by J.D., has only one television show credit to his name outside of Outer Banks, appearing as an unnamed character in a single episode of Revolution in 2013. Besides that, he’s been in movies like Edge Of The World, Age Of Summer, and Do Revenge. Pope remains the most intelligent guy on the team, even though he does get a little bit disoriented at the beginning of the season. He gets tested in multiple ways, but at the end of the day, he is reminded of who he is.

Carlacia Grant As Cleo 

Carlacia Grant got her start in a single episode of Roots back in 2016, and has since been in shows like Game Of Silence, Greenleaf, and The Resident. She’s also been in films like Bae Night: The Little Black Book and  Apollyon – The Black Awakening. Cleo is like the missing puzzle piece of this group. Unfortunately, they get separated from her not once, but twice in this season. But don’t fret, her friends will always look out for her. Plus, romance is in the air.

Rudy Pankow As JJ 

Rudy Pankow’s first television role was in Sunny Family Cult back in 2017, and he’s since been in shows like The Politician, Solve, and Acting For A Cause. He’s also been in movies like the Tom Holland Uncharted, Space Waves, and Accidental Texan. He’s had a bit more time on his hands since the end of season 4 of Outer Banks, so he’s also appeared in Reminders Of Him and Never Change!, both of which came out in 2026. It’s not Outer Bank without JJ, but unfortunately, the group lost him last season. Kiara spends all of season 5 trying to bring him back in some way or the other. Just know that, though he’s not around, he’s still kind of around.

Drew Starkey As Rafe Cameron 

If you’re a bit of a cinephile, you’re most likely to remember Drew Starkey for his lead role in “Queer,” where he played Daniel Craig’s younger (problematically so) love interest. He’s been in some other much loved films like Love, Simon, The Devil All The Time, and The Hate U Give. In the television sphere, he’s been in shows like Doom Patrol, Lucky, and Scream: The TV Series. Rafe is Sarah’s evil brother, who gets his redemption arc in season 5. Of course, everyone’s obsessed with Drew Starkey, so there’s no way the show was going to come to an end without him coming clean.

Fiona Palomo As Sofia 

Fiona Palomo got her start all the way back in 2013, in Gossip Girl: Acapulco. Since then, she’s been in shows like La Negociadora and Control Z. She’s also been in films like Bad Actor, Journey To Bethlehem, and Jardines del Bosque. Sofia is basically Rafe’s redemption. She is the reason he can start to consider changing or moving to the good side. She’s an intelligent woman who is a good fit in the Pogues team. 

J Anthony Crane As Chandler Groff 

J Anthony Crane has been in the industry since the 80s, when he appeared in shows like Family Ties, Roseanne, and Day By Day. He was also in 1989’s War Of The Roses, which was recently adapted as The Roses, starring Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch. More recently, he’s had roles in shows like Succession, Blue Bloods, and And Just Like That…. We all know that Groff is one of the most hated villains of the show. He’s JJ’s father and also his murderer, so make of that what you will. He’s menacing, he’s also kinda dumb, and he has a very recognizable mush that makes him look like he should’ve been in Indiana Jones.

Jason Alan Carvell As Anton Finch 

Jason Alan Carvell got his start on television with 2011’s Body Of Proof, and would also go on to have a role in Prime Suspect that year. Since then, he’s been in shows like Godfather Of Harlem, NCIS: New Orleans, and Ruthless. Finch is an interesting character, who I felt was kind of underutilized. He’s the leader of the Corsairs basically, or rather the guy they’re working for, and he’s on the hunt for the crown too. He’s definitely scarier than Groff.
