KUCHING (Aug 29): Asajaya Festival 2026 serves as an important platform to spur the local economy by providing opportunities for more than 70 entrepreneurs, said Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang.
Rubiah said the festival, held at the Asajaya Sports Complex, provided an avenue for local businesses to promote their products while benefiting from increased visitor traffic.
“Overall, this festival serves as a platform for more than 70 entrepreneurs offering a variety of products and sales to stimulate the local economy,” she said in a post on her official Facebook page.
She added that the festival also provided an opportunity for visitors, particularly the people of Asajaya, to witness the district’s development through exhibitions by various agencies involved.
“Hopefully, the organisation of this festival will also contribute to the progress and development of Asajaya district,” she said.
During her visit to Asajaya, Rubiah also visited several other project sites, including the Asajaya New Tamu Market construction project.
Implemented under the supervision of the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA), she said the new market was expected to provide better and more comfortable facilities for traders and the local community.
“Its implementation is expected to spur economic activities and contribute to the development of the Asajaya area,” she added.
