King grants audience to Anwar, briefed on Merdeka Day preparations

Preparations for tomorrow's Merdeka Day celebration were among the matters discussed with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, during an audience with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

The meeting took place at Istana Bukit Tunku, where His Majesty was also briefed on the latest updates on the country's current situation.

Through a post on Sultan Ibrahim's official Facebook page, Istana Negara said His Majesty had agreed to have an audience with Anwar on August 30.

Among the items presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong were the latest developments in the country and preparations for the Merdeka Day celebration which will take place tomorrow.

Sultan Ibrahim said he hoped that all preparations and celebrations would go smoothly.

“I hope that the Merdeka Day celebration goes smoothly and look forward to seeing all parties involved give their best efforts in commemorating a very important event in our country’s history,” said His Majesty. – August 30, 2026
