JOHOR BAHRU - "Alhamdulillah, Haira has regained consciousness."
That was the latest update shared by the family of Nur Haira Wafiqah Muhammad Hamizi, the two-year-old girl attacked by five stray dogs in Kampung Tambak, Peserai, Batu Pahat, last Saturday.
The victim's mother, Nur Wahyuni Harun, 36, said her daughter's condition is now showing positive progress after receiving hospital treatment for the injuries she sustained in the attack.
She said although Haira has regained consciousness, the child still requires close monitoring and further treatment from the hospital.
She said the family was deeply grateful for the progress after going through an agonising ordeal since the incident occurred.
"Our family is deeply grateful for this progress and we hope her condition will continue to improve.
"However, the road to recovery is still long and we leave everything to Allah SWT," she said when contacted on Tuesday.
Wahyuni also appealed to the public to continue praying for her daughter's health, so that she may be given the strength to fight the pain and that her treatment and recovery process be made easier.
In the incident, which occurred at around 7am last Saturday, Haira was attacked by five stray dogs outside her grandmother's house in Kampung Tambak, Peserai, Batu Pahat.
The attack left the two-year-and-ten-month-old girl with severe injuries to several parts of her body. She was rushed to hospital for further treatment.
