Apple shares video highlighting new child safety features

Apple’s YouTube channel shared a video today showcasing how parents can manage the new and existing features of Apple’s Child Accounts. Watch it below.

A few days ago, we covered the many features Apple added to its parental controls suite across its devices with the release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.

Today, Apple released a fun new animated video that highlights several of these new possibilities, while also touching on existing features that help parents keep “kids even more safe on iPhone, iPad, and Mac,” as Apple puts it.

As Apple explains, everything starts with setting up a child account, which enables parents to choose age-appropriate safeguards for their personal devices.

With that in place, Apple explains how parents can control which types of apps their kids can access, approve new apps and games through Ask to Buy, and use the new Ask to Browse feature to approve or deny access to websites in Safari.

The video also highlights controls for approving new contacts, the expanded Communication Safety feature, the new Time Allowances and Schedules features, and more.

As a side note, although the graphic style is very different, the video is somewhat reminiscent of Apple’s “Intention” video that opened WWDC 2013, with both using simple shapes and playful motion to help convey the meanin and the feelings of what they’re talking about.
