'MobLand' Season 2 Episode 5 Trailer Breakdown

[Spoiler Alert] In episode 4 of MobLand Season 2, Conrad got into a tiff with Harry because the old timer was of the opinion that it was Harry’s decisions that had put the Harrigans on the backfoot in the war against Kat. Moreover, he accused Harry of secretly doing Kat’s bidding. When none of those accusations got a rise out of Harry, Conrad furiously advised him to choose between Conrad and Kevin. To add to Conrad’s worries, he found a bottle of antifreeze in his bathroom and immediately came to the conclusion that Maeve had used it for some nefarious reason. And he promised to have a conversation about it with Maeve once he returned home from the city. Maeve wasn’t concerned about that, because all her focus was on sending Eddie and Gina to Kerry, Ireland, for a reason that she chose not to disclose. Eddie’s passport was in Bella and Kevin’s house; so, he went there to get it, thereby interrupting a tiff between Kevin and Bella about Kevin’s inability to be the poster boy of the Harrigans.

Gina was alone in that luxury apartment that the Harrigans owned, and there, while waiting for Eddie to return, she had a chat with Conrad. When Eddie got there, Conrad took off. Soon after that, Eddie and Gina boarded the plane to Ireland and bid farewell to England. Harry forced Seraphina to come clean about her dynamic with Kat, and he essentially turned Seraphina into a Harrigan double agent. Kavanagh got a major hint that Finch was a Kavanagh rat; that piece of info was passed on to Harry by a guy in the police department’s tech division. Harry conducted a heist to check if Finch was in the loop regarding major crimes or not; when he confirmed that Finch was on Kavanagh’s radar, he took him to a forest and killed him in a way that it looked like Finch had died by suicide. While wrapping it up at that crime scene, Frankie sent a raunchy video of Jan and Donnie to Harry. In the meantime, Conrad and Paul went to Frankie’s wrecking yard, shot a bunch of his men, kidnapped one of those thugs, and then drove off. Based on the teaser trailer for episode 5, what can we expect to see in MobLand Season 2 next week? Let’s find out.

We see that Eddie and Gina have reached Kerry safe and sound. But then Eddie calls Maeve and asks her what she wants him to do. Maeve takes Eddie’s call in the stable and she vaguely talks about checking if Eddie has that classic Harrigan courage in him or not (I can’t use her exact words). Unbeknownst to Maeve, Paul overhears the conversation between her and Eddie. Moments after that telephonic chat, Eddie can be seen loading his pistol and driving down a dark road with Gina. Gina asks Eddie to give her some clarity about where they are headed, but Eddie seemingly doesn’t give her a straight answer. Once they reach their destination, Eddie tries to break into a house, while holding his pistol in his hand. Gina seems to be standing near the window of that house. Something goes wrong during this operation, as it causes Gina to look behind her with a shocked expression on her face. Whatever Maeve is cooking for Eddie and Gina is a big mystery. Initially, when Maeve told Eddie to take Gina and go to Ireland, I thought that she was only joking. When she actually put them on a plane to Ireland, I assumed that she was exiling him or punishing him because he had become a liability.

Someone like Frankie could attack Eddie and weaken the Harrigans. And since Eddie and Gina are attached at the hip, I thought Maeve suddenly respected their bond and was sending them to Kerry to weather the Kat storm. But after seeing everything that Maeve is putting Eddie through, I think she is throwing him and Gina into a trial by fire. I suppose she has tasked this modern-day Bonnie and Clyde with a hit job. If Eddie manages to kill whoever Maeve wants him to kill, while protecting Gina–or Gina manages to hold her own during the assassination mission–I guess Maeve will reintroduce them into the Harrigan empire. Eddie and Gina are kids and they need to question themselves that, when push comes to shove, will they be as passionate about each other as they are now. So, yeah, I guess Maeve is giving them a much-needed reality check. Why not do it in England? As mentioned earlier, there are real threats in England in the form of Frankie, Kat, Colin, and Donnie. Doing a test on the battlefield would be pretty stupid. The whole operation might end up being a big mistake and, much like how Maeve lost Brendan, she might end up losing Eddie. Fortunately or unfortunately, Paul has overheard Maeve’s conversation with Eddie. Maeve might order Paul to keep that information under wraps. But if things go sideways for Eddie, Maeve will probably send Paul over to Kerry to discreetly save him and the love of his life. I had a feeling that this whole trip to Ireland was a part of Maeve’s plan to have some kind of a leverage over Harry, as she suspects that he isn’t working in the Harrigan household’s best interests. That still might be the case, and if Harry learns that Maeve has put his daughter’s life in danger just so that she can separate the two lovers, he is definitely going to put the fear of god into that old crone.

Going by the tone of the conversation taking place between Conrad and Harry (during the day) at the Harrigan household in the Cotswolds, Conrad has told Harry about the attack on Frankie’s yard, and the fact that Conrad has kidnapped one of Frankie’s men, thereby declaring all-out war on Kat. I suppose that’s what prompts Harry to say that there’s a lot at stake, because when Conrad reveals that he has attacked Frankie’s men, the entire Harrigan family is scattered all over London, and hence susceptible to attacks. Harry had already given Kevin the ultimatum to show up at the Cotswolds so that he can mediate a meeting between father and son, and get the Harrigans to close ranks before Kat makes her next move. However, Conrad has moved up the timeline by performing that unsanctioned hit on Frankie’s wrecking yard. It’s open season now, and Colin, Kat, and Frankie know it. So, without wasting another beat, Colin gets Kat’s permission to move in on the Harrigans; Kat gives Colin the green light, and I’m guessing Colin tells Frankie to take his army and hit the Cotswolds at night. By that time, Harry has rounded up the Harrigans. We see that Maeve, Conrad, Kevin, Bella, and Paul are in the living room, talking about how they need to work together as a unit to face Frankie and his men.

The front yard of the Harrigan household is bristling with armed men. And all their preparation doesn’t seem to go to waste because we can see Frankie sending his minions to break into the Harrigan estate and open fire on the Harrigans and their crew. With the exception of Maeve and Bella, everyone is supposedly going to partake in the shootout. The outcome of this shootout is obviously unclear but yeah, we can expect a bunch of bodies to drop on both sides. Frankie is smarter than the Harrigans though, and I don’t think he is going to put himself in the line of fire. He will let his minions sort things out and arrive later on to take the throne. The same goes for Kat and Colin; they will never put themselves in danger; they’ll let others do their dirty work and then arrive later on to enjoy the spoils of war. Are any of the Harrigans going to die? I doubt it. But if any major character does croak at the end of episode 5, I’ll be impressed. By the way, there’s a stray shot of a chopper landing near a beach. That’s something that could be happening in Kerry or somewhere near the Cotswolds. The Harrigans do have a chopper, don’t they? I assume so does Kat. So, unless it’s Maeve escaping from the Cotswolds and going to Kerry, I’ll say that that’s Kat watching the war between the Harrigans and Frankie from afar. How does that sound to you? Let me know in the comments section below.
