SKLO Launches Award-Winning EVOLUTION and LINEAR Glassware Collections in Malaysia
8 hours ago
Glassware can make a surprising difference to the drinking experience, whether the aim is to appreciate the finer details of an aged whisky, explore the aromas of a Burgundy Pinot Noir, or simply enjoy a glass of wine over dinner. Singapore-based lifestyle brand SKLO is bringing that philosophy to Malaysia with the launch of its EVOLUTION and LINEAR collections, two ranges designed to serve very different occasions.
Both collections are designed in Singapore and crafted by artisans, with EVOLUTION aimed at the more considered tasting experience and LINEAR offering elegant, functional glassware for everyday use. Together, they reflect the idea that good glassware need not be restricted to a single beverage or occasion.
EVOLUTION: ONE GLASS, MANY DRINKSThe EVOLUTION collection takes a different approach from traditional glassware, which often requires a separate shape for each drink. Developed over a span of 30 weeks in close collaboration with the Sommelier Association of Singapore (SAS), the range draws on the expertise of an association with more than 250 members, including sommeliers and other beverage professionals.
Handblown in lead-free crystal by Kvetna 1794, one of the Czech Republic’s oldest glassworks, EVOLUTION features a tulip-shaped bowl and an ultra-thin rim designed to enhance aroma, flavour clarity, and the structure of a drink. The development process also carefully considered how the glass influences the movement of liquid and the release of aromas.
“More uniquely, we looked at how to improve torque and velocity, maximize impact aromas, and minimize aromatic loss,” explains Gerald Lu, president of the Sommelier Association of Singapore.
The collection received a 2025 Red Dot Award in Product Design in the Tableware category, making it the first Singapore-designed stemware collection to receive the international distinction.
EVOLUTION comes in two sizes. The EVOLUTION 125 is intended for standard 125 ml pours of red, white, and sparkling wines. The smaller EVOLUTION 50 is proportioned for spirits such as whisky, cognac, and brandy, as well as sherry and sake. It also accommodates baijiu and huangjiu, traditional Chinese drinks that are not always served in glassware designed with their particular characteristics in mind.
For wine pros, the smaller glass, when poured to the appropriate level (roughly the point of the bowl’s maximum width), provides a 50 ml portion, considered ideal for tasting. Similarly, the larger glass filled to the corresponding point, will hold about 125 ml, with plenty of space for swirling, nosing, and oxygenating in the glass.
Both sizes can also be used for coffee and tea, extending the collection beyond wine and spirits.
LINEAR: EVERYDAY ELEGANCEWhere EVOLUTION focuses on the nuances of tasting, LINEAR is designed to bring thoughtful form and function to the everyday table. Its clean lines balance durability with elegance, making the collection suitable for home dining as well as restaurant and hotel service.
The range comprises three glasses: LINEAR N.1 for white wines and sake, LINEAR N.2 for red wines, and the newly announced LINEAR N.3, designed specifically for Burgundy wines, including Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The addition of N.3 completes the collection, which had previously consisted of the white wine and red wine glasses. Burgundy wines can be particularly sensitive to glass shape, making the new design a useful addition for drinkers who want to explore the region’s wines in greater detail.
For hospitality businesses, LINEAR is intended to provide a refined appearance without sacrificing the practicality required for regular service.
“Good glassware shouldn’t be limited to a single drink or a single occasion,” says SKLO founder Thoo Lee Ming. “EVOLUTION is for the moment you want every pour at its best. LINEAR is for every other night.”
Founded in 2022, SKLO is building its presence as a curator and distributor of artisanal glassware across Asia. The company is the exclusive Southeast Asia distributor of Kvetna 1794, the Czech glassmaker established in 1794 and known for its handmade crystal.
With the Malaysian launch, SKLO brings together two complementary approaches to glassware: one focused on extracting more from a tasting, and the other on making artfully considered design an easy-to-embrace part of everyday drinking.
