Avatar: Seven Havens Episodes 4, 5 And 6 Recap
8 hours ago
The mystery about the nature of the dark spirit entity aka Anomaly, grows intriguing as the latest set of episodes of “Avatar: Seven Havens” focuses on the dynamics between twin Avatars, Nisha and Pavi. Previously, due to Avatar Korra being responsible for causing the disastrous Cataclysm which nearly exterminated humanity, the new world order, established as seven havens, harbored deep disdain for Avatar. In the haven of wind and sand, Ellora, Captain Karthik and Bender Brigade member, Jae, respectively found Nisha and Pavi, orphan twins who are the first Avatars since the passing of Korra. As the long list sisters reunited and with the help of Karthik’s secret society of White Lotus, began to navigate their way through their cosmic responsibility, public perception and lost memories of their past lives, a new threat emerged in the form of a dark spirit entity known as Anomaly.

What Happened to Uki?The fourth episode begins with the Bender Brigade, led by Jae, confronting the masked criminals (seen in the final moments of third episode) known simply as Faceless, who are seen stealing supplies. Uki, presumably the strongest member of the squad, is offered by Zi, the leader of the Faceless, to join their ranks, before the criminals are forced to retreat. Later, Karthik entrusts Jae with the chaotic twins, who reveals they have searched every record they could find but any intel regarding their past and parentage remains unknown. They are surprised to hear Daemin, one of Jae’s friends in the Bender Brigade, humming the tunes of their childhood lullaby, and get to know that he learned it from Uki. Curious about her possible connection with their past, the twins, accompanied by Jae, visit Uki’s quarters, only to find her missing. They come across a map of sorts drawn by Uki, which they can’t decipher just yet. Following a trail of clues, the trio visit Agam’s shop, and then visit Uki’s extended family in her search. Even though they aren’t able to learn anything, Pavi’s kind words assure Uki’s concerned family.
Eventually, Jae and Nisha realize Uki investigated the recurrent appearance of the Faceless around the haven, and predicted the pattern to identify where those criminals are going to loot next. Uki has gone on her own to stop them, and realizing this Jae goes to apprehend the Faceless. Nisha, too eager to prove herself, convinces Pavi to join Jae without informing Karthik to send backup. Their hastiness results in the Faceless fleeing, abducting Uki in the process. In the ruckus, Molin, one of the Haven guards, learns the identity of one of the twins as an Avatar after seeing her expertise in multiple bending discipline. Karthik assigns Daemin to assist Jae, while reprimanding the twins for insubordination.
Suspicion of Avatar’s PresenceMolin, who has been influenced by the powers of Anomaly, informs his findings about Avatar to Jae’s boyfriend, Datu. While Jae remains tight-lipped about Avatar’s presence when Datu questions him, an air of suspicion about Avatar having infiltrated the Bender Brigade, engulfs common folks. As the rumours grow stronger, Chancellor Kayoko, who is unaware about Karthik’s secret society of Avatar worshippers, decides to address the people of Ellora to mitigate their fears. However, Molin, completely brainwashed by the influence of Anomaly, tries to hold Kayoko hostage to force her to spill the beans. Jae uses a friendly, humane approach to temporarily distract Molin, and gets a bit disappointed when Karthik uses force to promptly incapacitate and detain Molin by using that opportunity. Upon investigating, Jae realizes Datu and his associates are responsible for spreading Avatar hate and paranoia, and as he confronts his lover, Datu apologizes for acting in haste out of fear.
On the other hand, after spending their entire day by brewing up chaos, Nisha and Pavi access a secret archive vault in Karthik’s quarters, where they find an old radio, and a bracelet (similar to Nisha’s necklace) which belonged to Nisha which lets her see a vision of Karthik finding her in Harshlands. They also find a message, which indicates Karthik already knew Nisha was an Avatar and he set out back then to find her. Nisha is shocked to realize Karthik lied to her, and after narrowly missing getting confronted by Kayoko, Nisha lashes out at Karthik. The twins learn their parents themselves secretly communicated with Karthik to have Nisha gathered from the Harshlands. When Karthik reached there, no one was present except an unconscious Nisha. The only reason Karthik lied to her is to protect her from the painful truth, that their parents probably abandoned her. An aggrieved Nisha vents out her anger during the practice session, when Pavi comforts her sister. Meanwhile, Karthik secretly uses the old radio to communicate with another haven, Akasha, to inform that Avatar’s return is gradually becoming public news.
What Vision the Anomaly Shows to the Twins? While Nisha struggles with the idea of parental abandonment, Pavi wonders why despite being an Avatar like Nisha, her parents never told Karthik about her, and starts believing they probably deemed her weak due to being an amputee. During training, Pavi struggles to match up to Nisha, and it is revealed her amputated leg is hurting. As Karthik and Nisha pursue her to visit a doctor, who reveals she is experiencing phantom limb pain as she believes Pavi lost her leg a few years ago. This is shocking to Pavi, who believed thus far that she was born without a leg.
Unrest grows in the Bender Brigade as instead of asking neighbouring havens for help, Chancellor Kayoko continues to pursue short-staffed departments to handle the aftermath of the Anomaly crisis. Among a number of other citizens, Tala, one of the members of the Brigade, gets afflicted by red crystals created in the presence of Anomaly. Dismayed and enraged, Bender Brigade members confront Kayoko to keep benders safe and ask help from other havens. Jae stops them, and tries to tell Kayoko why. The afflicted ones start acting hostile and aggressive upon seeing Pavi and Nisha, and much to Karthik’s surprise, launch an attack on them. Gripped by the influence of Anomaly, former commander Bountan and other afflicted ones start hunting down the trio, and Karthik gives a free hand to the twins. Pavi uses a gentle approach to calm Molin, one of the afflicted ones, and taking her suggestion, Karthik uses words to calm Bountan by reminding him of their past memories.
Bountan, composed but still under Anomaly’s influence, reveals the spirit world is unleashing it’s wrath, and it’s too late to stop it. Anomaly appears inside the military quarters, and Karthik fails to contain it. Pavi and Nisha join hands to confront Anomaly, when they accidentally learn energybending, arguably the most powerful form of bending which Korra used to end Vaatu centuries ago. The Anomaly shows the twin a vision of their childhood where they get to catch a glimpse of their parents, before disappearing suddenly. Following the incident, Nisha and Pavi wonder about their mysterious past life, eventually finding strength and comfort in each other’s presence. The good doctor delivers a new prosthetic leg for Pavi, much to the twins’ delight. As the sixth episode reaches its conclusion, Chancellor Kayako is revealed to have finally taken Jae’s suggestion, as she is calling for help from other havens.
