Sheriff Country Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

When you know that your loved ones are in trouble, you start to panic and you do everything in your power to keep them safe; in Episode 3 of “Sheriff Country” season 2, Edgewater County Sheriff Mickey Fox is going through one of the worst phases after her father, Wes, has gone dark. Nobody has heard anything from Wes since last night and Deputy Director of the DEA, Eva Santos, is also worried. Eva planted a bug into Wes’s phone, but it got trashed when Sonny and his men kidnapped him from the parking lot. Wes is taken to an old factory inside the Stoyanov’s farmhouse, and he is held captive within a torture chamber. He needs to figure a way out to escape from there. Meanwhile, Mickey and the others in the Edgewater County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) grow tense.

Spoilers Ahead

What Makes Mickey Lose Her Mind?

Mickey still does not like her father, Wes, mainly because of his unpredictable behavior. There have been times when she has also hated working with Wes as he is a liar. However, ever since Wes has gone dark, Mickey is extremely worried about his safety. She knows that Wes has gone in too deep while pursuing the Stoyanovs and unless he comes out of it alive, nobody can intervene. Since Wes is missing, it means that his plan has failed somehow; for Mickey, it’s a very concerning thing. If Wes is held captive by the Stoyanovs, they can easily endanger his safety, which is the last thing Mickey wants in her life. A part of her thinks that Wes might even be dead because Petar and Sonny are dangerous; the Bulgarian cartel will waste no time in tearing Wes apart once they learn that he is working for the ECSO and the DEA. Since Travis and Boone have grown emotionally distant from her, Mickey’s worries are constantly growing.

How Can Eva Be So Sure About Wes’s Safety?

Eva has known Wes for years and she is aware of his secretive nature. This is one of the reasons why Wes has the nickname, “Sly,” because he truly resembles how a sly fox takes note of the environment it is in. Although Mickey thinks that Eva is just bluffing, she has a lot of confidence in Wes and his tactics of being a spy. While the security footage shows that Wes was kidnapped from the parking lot, and the henchmen are most likely working for the Stoyanovs, Eva is relieved because Wes is at the best spot to crack the Bulgarian cartel’s operations. He is also one of the best talkers in the game, so manipulating the Stoyanovs will be a piece of cake for Wes. Once he is able to bring down the Stoyanovs dynamics from within, the DEA and the ECSO will have no time to take them into custody. While Eva is thinking straight, she forgets that logic should not be the best foot forward at times. Mickey is extremely emotional about her father and she is not going to stop fighting unless she reaches him.

How Does Wes Make A Good Impression In Sonny’s Mind?

Sonny has taken the reins of the Stoyanovs quite recently and despite being the leader of the gang, he has a lot to do. One of Sonny’s worries, apart from keeping the underage girls in a cage, is reviving his father, Konstantin’s weed field. As Eva expected, Wes strikes right where Sonny is weak and promises to give the Stoyanovs a good yield. In this way, not only can Wes have enough time to take notes of everything, it also allows him to build trust in Sonny’s mind. Since Sonny despises Wes’s friend, Petar, Wes needs to make him feel in power and reviving the growth is one of the ways to do that. Wes realizes that he is in the right place after he notices a hairclip, something that a teenager would use, in the kitchen while talking with Sonny’s mother, Anna. After digging around a little, Wes fixes the basic problems with the weed crops and Sonny becomes so happy that he takes him to Molly, one of the underage girls that they are illegally hiding.

What Made Courtney Choose This Life?

Courtney’s sister, Molly, has been an addict and this has been a recurring issue in her life. To fix that, Courtney has struggled a lot but unfortunately, Molly got taken away by the Stoyanovs for their own agenda. In Molly’s absence, Courtney had no other option than agreeing to the Stoyanovs in being their very own drug supplier. Since then, she has been complying with the cartel and giving away special editions of a book, where the pages are lined with Cyclone. Once Cassidy dresses up as a college student and walks into Courtney’s bookstore, she catches her red-handed. Courtney has no  way left to save herself from the situation; if she decides to stay shut, it will further endanger Molly. That’s why she reveals everything in the Sheriff’s office after Boone and Mickey interrogate her.

How Does Mickey Make Petar Speak Against His Own Family?

Mickey got to know from Wes that Petar was unhappy with the latest developments in the Stoyanov family. Petar always disliked how Konstantin’s paralysis led to the rise of Sonny, who does not like to take informed decisions in life. He hates how Sonny has expanded the Stoyanov’s family business to human trafficking by endangering the lives of underage girls. Mickey uses these emotions to point out that Sonny is carrying out every operation on Petar’s shoulders. In fact, the car that was used to kidnap Wes is also registered under Petar’s name. At the end of the day, it is Petar who got captured by the cops while trying to deliver drug-lined books to Courtney’s bookstore. After Mickey points all these out, Petar exposes the location of the laboratory where the Stoyanovs make the drug, forcing the DEA to initiate a raid.

Are Molly And The Girls Safe?

Although the ECSO and the DEA jointly raid the Stoyanov’s den, they do not find anything more than a half-torched laboratory where Cyclone was being made. By then, Anna has already guessed Wes’s plan of escaping with the girls and Sonny has held him captive. But, Molly and the rest of the girls turn out to be missing and Mickey loses her mind. Sonny and Anna also failed to locate the girls before they left the compound; this might be a rash decision of Molly as she was desperate to get away. This might also be Wes’s plan; it’s possible that Wes deliberately exposed his plan to Anna to create a distraction while Molly escaped with her friends. In Episode 4, “Sheriff Country” needs to answer the burning questions about Wes and Molly’s locations while Mickey must bring the Stoyanovs down.
