'Sarawak Youth StartUp Programme' to take place at Sarawak Sports Village Dec 7-9

KUCHING (Nov 20): The Sarawak Youth StartUp Programme, which will take place from Dec 7 to 14 at the Sarawak Sports Village here, aims to cultivate and support youth entrepreneurs at the early stages of their ventures.

It also aims at offering guidance and resources to help them acquire comprehensive entrepreneurial knowledge and essential skills for starting their businesses, said the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) in a press statement.

The ACCCIS is one of the strategic partners for this event, the other being Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, and both parties will collaborate closely to ensure the success of the programme.

“This will ensure that these start-ups can grow steadily, remain sustainable, and ultimately achieve success. The programme targets 300 youth participants aged 18 to 40 from various regions across Sarawak, with all meals and accommodation provided free of charge.

“Through collaborations with various Sarawak and federal government agencies, the ministry will provide a wealth of information and mentorship,” it said.

A series of intensive courses will cover key topics, including company registration and licensing, financial management, business plan development, risk analysis, market evaluation, branding, product validation, halal certification, franchising, trademark registration, social enterprises, creative industries development, as well as government training and financial assistance schemes, among others.

ACCCIS encourages local Chinese youth, including fresh graduates, unemployed graduates, school-leavers, and those interested in entrepreneurship, to seize this opportunity and register here.

This programme offers an excellent first step toward a successful entrepreneurial journey.

The application deadline is Nov 25, 2024.

On Tuesday, its secretary-general Dato Jonathan Chai Voon Tok led a 12-member delegation on a courtesy visit to Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex to discuss the programme and preparations.

In a goodwill gesture, Ripin presented a souvenir to the ACCCIS, which was received by Chai.
