Malaysia is advancing its smart city initiatives in line with the increasing urbanisation of its population.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has formalised a partnership with Digital Perak Corporation Holdings (DPCH) through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at transforming Ipoh into a smart city.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil highlighted that the agreement focuses on enhancing digital infrastructure, boosting digital education, and providing sustainable community amenities.
Additionally, he noted that this collaboration includes improving internet coverage in Perak to support the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan in the preparation of communication infrastructure plans at agreed development locations.
The collaboration also leverages MCMC’s expertise to provide technical advisory services to DPCH on digital infrastructure, network coverage, cybersecurity, and fraud prevention.
The partnership extends to fostering e-commerce and delivering ICT training at the Perak National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), promoting active community engagement.
These efforts align with the broader goal of positioning Ipoh as a modern, efficient city, with an emphasis on innovation, connectivity, and inclusivity.
