Grammys 2025: Full winners and highlights

Featuring some of the biggest artists who kept us entertained throughout 2024, the set was stage once again for music’s biggest night at Los Angeles’s Crypto.com Arena on 3 February. At the 67th edition of the prestigious award, stars such as Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar took home awards for their incredible success in dominating music charts in the past year.

Going into the night, Queen Bey was the top-nominated artist with 11 nods for her career-defining country album Cowboy Carter. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone scored seven nominations whilst Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift earned six nods, respectively. While we had some of our predictions right, the night still brought some surprises that left jaws ajar. Read on for the biggest highlights from the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

Beyoncé wins her first Album of the Year award

And everyone shouted, ‘Finally!’ With 28 years in the music industry and the record-holder for the most-decorated artist at the Grammys with 32 golden gramophones, it’s hard to imagine that the iconic superstar hasn’t won Album of the Year until now. Prior to this, Beyoncé was nominated four times for her albums I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé, Lemonade, and Renaissance, but it was Cowboy Carter, her country concept album, that ultimately took it home.

Despite waiting a long time for her name to be called to the stage—her first nomination came back in 2010—the ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ singer kept her speech short and sweet with her daughter Blue Ivy in tow. ‘It’s been many, many years. I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, all of the hard work,’ she said. Cowboy Carter also won Best Country Album, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to win in this category.

…and the subject of a new internet meme!

Kendrick Lamar’s diss track beats out the pop girlies

It’s easy to remember 2024 as the year of pop princesses but if there was one man who gave them a good run for their money, it was Kendrick Lamar. The infamous beef with Drake took the world by storm as the internet waited with bated breath for each new diss track to drop. Out of all the releases, ‘Not Like Us’ took listeners on a journey as its lyrics contain bombshell sexual abuse allegations against Drake that had pop culture vultures reeling.

The rap single ultimately became one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home the coveted Song and Record of the Year awards as well as Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. As far as diss battles go, it’s pretty clear who got the final word.

Tears were shed during Doechii’s acceptance speech

Another big winner at the 2025 Grammy Awards was rap sensation Doechii, who first broke out with the viral hit ‘What It Is (Block Boy)’ in 2023. The self-proclaimed ‘Swamp Princess’ hailing from Tampa Florida became a Grammy-certified emcee after winning Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, beating out the likes of Eminem and J Cole. The rap phenom is only the third female rapper to win in this category.

‘I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape,’ said a teary-eyed Doechii on stage. ‘I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety and God told me that I would be rewarded and that He would show me just how good it can get.’ Further, the emcee offered an uplifting message to fellow Black female artists. ‘You can do it. Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you.’

Sabrina Carpenter earns her first Grammy

It’s an understatement that 2024 was major for Sabrina Carpenter. After 15 years of hustling in the industry as a Disney child star, the ‘Espresso’ singer finally hit it big when her caffeine-laden single went viral. The world couldn’t get enough of the fun-sized star and her album Short n’ Sweet cemented her as a bonafide pop princess.

Carpenter came into the night with six nods and took home her first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, beating out Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and bestie Taylor Swift. She also impressed with her delightful mashup of ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’ which was full of comedic mishaps. The Disney theatre kid spirit still runs strong in her blood!

Plus, fans spotted her happily chatting with and hugging Olivia Rodrigo during the ceremony, officially squashing the feud rumours. Just love and good vibes all around!

Chappell Roan sends out a powerful message

Leave it to Chappell Roan to make a big statement. As the breakout star accepted her award for Best New Artist, the ‘Hot To Go’ singer did not hold back on usig her voice to raise an important issue in the music industry.

‘I told myself if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and health care, especially to developing artists,’ she said.

‘I got signed as a minor, and when I got dropped, I had zero job experience under my belt…and could not afford health insurance,’ the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer continued. She ended her speech with a call for labels to treat their artists with more care and empathy. ‘So record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you, but do you got us?’
