Just recently, we were introduced to the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. Sitting at the pinnacle of luxury, the all-electric SUV’s distinctive exterior features are matched by ultra-luxe interior fittings and cutting-edge technology. It was made to provide passengers with a first-class automotive experience from the moment the doors open. With the exclusivity of Maybach and Mercedes-Benz’s state-of-the-art driving technology, the car sits at the crossroads of opulent luxury and comfort-focused driving. In this read, we give you a quick rundown of all the key features and highlights of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV from its headlights to its trunk space. 

EXTERIOR

The iconic Maybach trims and designs return on the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV with the brand-typical black panel on the front with vertical, chrome-plated trim strips. It is accompanied by Maybach lettering and emblems on the side bumper. When the doors open, the Maybach logo is projected onto the ground next to the vehicle for that extra exclusive touch. More decorative features such as the chrome fixtures on the side windows and B-pillar trim also highlight the vehicle’s rear seating area length. 

Animated rear lights bring life to the back of the car, while chrome trim elements continue the design language from the front. As with other notable Maybach vehicles, this EQS SUV also arrives with the two-tone paintwork with a filigree pinstripe applied by hand. 

INTERIORS

Following Maybach’s “What is good must also be beautiful” ethos, the car’s interiors are as functional as they are plush. As for its build, the car is decked in natural materials such as the Manufaktur brown open-pore walnut wood trims. These accents pair exquisitely with the exclusive Nappa leather, which have been tanned using vegetables and coffee bean shells to achieve its various available shades. As expected, the Maybach emblem is seen throughout the interior, appearing on the pedal system, headrest cushions, footwell projection, and more. 

Within the car, passengers can also select different lighting moods with 253 individually controllable LEDs and 64 colour options—including the Maybach-specific Rose Gold White and Amethyst Glow— thanks to Active Ambient Lighting. Adaptive rear lighting also offers additional reading lights in the grab handles and light strips for passengers. Further boosting the rear passengers’ comfort are all the measures taken to reduce noise effectively when on the road. These include special acoustic foams in selected body shell profiles and the encapsulation of the electric drive train. 

Rounding out the first-class rear and front passenger experiences are the Executive seats with ventilation, massage functions, neck and shoulder heating, and even a reclining option in the Chauffeur Package. Adding to the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV’s overall allure, the storage compartments in the rear are accented with wooden trims, a first in the brand’s history. 

INFOTAINMENT & CONNECTIVITY

In the front, the MBUX Hyperscreen opens up a world of entertainment and drive information for the passenger. Its customised, deep blue-hued interface is home to features in navigation, assistance, and entertainment. The instrument cluster is also given the exclusive treatment with an animated display and rose gold surrounds for the round instruments. To top if all off, a three-dimensional performance bar also depicts the current driving status of the car: driving, accelerating, or charging. All three displays can be customised with a specific look (discreet, sporty, and Maybach) as well as three modes (navvigation, assistance, and service). 

In the rear, passengers are also privy to the high-end infotainment and comfort systems with two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats and the MBUX rear tablet. Rear passengers also have the power to select and change navigation destinations from their seats on top of other controls. Tech- and connectivity-wise, the rear passengers have access to four fast-charging USB-C ports, a wireless charging pad, two HDMI interfaces, and a centre console with a refrigerated compartment on request. Those working on the go will also appreciate the two folding tables in the rear compartment. Completing the entertainment system in the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the comprehensive and high-end Burmester 4D surround sound system.

THE NIGHT SERIES

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is also available with an optional Night Series package that bring the car’s aesthetics to the next level. Featuring dark chrome elements, moody surfaces, and darkened pinstripes, the entire look of the car is transformed into a sleeker silhouette. The side windows are lined with highly polished black edging, while the running boards are finished in black and sport a Maybach emblem finished in dark chrome.

More noticeably, the 21-inch, seven-spoke light-alloy wheels are embellished with unique inserts that don a Maybach logo mattern. The Night Series package is available in three colours: obsidian black, Manufaktur diamond white bright, and the exclusive two-ton combo of obsidian black/mojave silver.  

MERCEDES-MAYBACH EQS 680 SUV FACTS & FIGURES

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV brings more than just looks and driving comfort to the table. It can achieve the century sprint in 4.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 210km/h. It takes only 31 minutes via DC charging to go from 10 percent to 80 percent charge. On the other hand, the AC charging time from zero percent to full charge is about six hours and fifteen minutes. Lastly. Its electric driving range clocks in at about 560 to 608 kilometers, consuming about 23.7 to 23.7 kWh of energy every 100 kilometers.
