Makcik Floors Netizens With English Skills While Conversing With Portuguese Tourists
Aside from Malay, the national language of the country, Malaysians are blessed with the ability to converse seamlessly in a variety of languages and dialects that never cease to amaze foreigners.

This linguistic prowess was once again put on display following a pair of Portuguese tourists who were visiting KL.

Spoke fluent English with Portuguese tourists

In a 1-minute long TikTok clip shared by Nelson Teles on Wednesday (Apr 16), it showed him and his partner coming across a makcik selling the local dessert putu piring at a stall along Jalan Raja Muda Musa, Kampung Baru.

He then asked what the was the ingredient of the dessert, to which the makcik replied by saying that it was filled with palm sugar and only had an average level of sweetness.

After ordering some putu piring for himself and his partner, Nelson takes a bite of the dessert and seemed to enjoy every mouthful of it.

After finishing the putu piring, Nelson asks how much it cost but the makcik refused to accept payment from him.

Despite his insistence on paying, the makcik‘s warmth and generosity won out in the end, where she told Nelson and his partner that it was her pleasure to see tourists like them patronise her stall.

All throughout the clip, the makcik didn’t use a single Malay word but spoke purely in English with the tourists, proving that her English skills weren’t to be scoffed at.
