MBKS sets up open counter on May 23 to assist seniors citizens, students with govt aid applications

KUCHING, May 21: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will set up a dedicated open counter at the MBKS Lobby on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 8.30am to 12pm, to assist members of the public with a range of government-related applications.

This initiative is part of MBKS’ ongoing efforts to enhance public access to essential services and ensure that vulnerable groups such as senior citizens and students receive the support they need.

According to its press statement, officers stationed at the counter will provide guidance and assistance for applications such as the Kenyalang Gold Card and Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) programme for senior citizens, and Special Financial Assistance (Bantuan Kewangan Khas) under Yayasan Sarawak for eligible students.

Officers there will also assist in applications for the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) under NADI, as well as Skim Keselamatan Sosial Pekerjaan Sendiri (SKSPS) and Skim Keselamatan Social Suri Rumah (SKSSR) under PERKESO.

For applications for the STR aid, applicants are required to bring the following documents:

SKSPS applicants are advised to bring their IC, trade license (optional), and smartphone for online payment via app (optional), while SKSSR applicants must bring their IC and applicants must be below 54 years old.

MBKS will also provide e-Billing registration and advisory services for matters related to assessment rates, and an Affin Bank service counter will be open to facilitate applications for the Kenyalang Debit Card.

MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng emphasised that this initiative reflects MBKS commitment to inclusive and people-centric governance.
