Volvo cars will get new Android Automotive features faster, including Gemini
1 day ago
Volvo and Google have announced a new deal that will bring new Android Automotive features to Volvo’s vehicles faster, starting with Gemini support.
One of the first automakers to adopt Google’s Android Automotive was Volvo, and the two company’s continue to work together closely. In a new partnership announced this week, Volvo cars will now become a reference platform for Android Automotive, with Google developing new features for the platform based on Volvo vehicles before they make their way elsewhere.
This means that, going forward, new Android Automotive features will almost certainly arrive on Volvo vehicles quickly, if not before anyone else.
Volvo explains:
The automaker goes on to say that it will be “among the first to benefit” from Gemini on Android Automotive, though it still says the feature won’t arrive until “later this year,” the same timeline Google had already mentioned.
Google used the Volvo EX90 at its I/O 2025 event to show off Gemini in cars.
