Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim personally inspected the newly operational service earlier today (July 1) before heading off for an official overseas visit.
In a Facebook post, he said the aerotrain is now fully back in service after undergoing significant improvements.
The train which ferries passengers between the Main Terminal and Satellite Building at KLIA Terminal 1 had been out of service since early 2023.
Anwar said the reopening of the aerotrain is a crucial move to improve passenger comfort and ensure smooth traffic flow for travellers, especially those using KLIA as the nation’s main gateway.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke also confirmed the news in a separate Facebook post, sharing that he had just signed off the official documents allowing the aerotrain to resume operations from 10am on July 1.
The KLIA Aerotrain is crucial for helping travellers transit between terminals quickly and comfortably, especially during peak hours or international flight transfers.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of maintaining world-class service standards at KLIA, as it plays a key role in shaping Malaysia’s image as a global aviation hub.
