Today, we reported of a shocking attack that took place at a private university in Subang Jaya, where a young woman was slashed by her ex-boyfriend.

Following the incident, police held a press conference to shed more light on the brutal attack, including the alleged motive behind it.

Attack reportedly triggered by untrue claim

Speaking to reporters, Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the suspect, a 21-year-old foreigner, became angry at the victim for making a false claim about him.

“The victim is currently being treated in the intensive care unit at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) and remains under close observation,” he said as quoted by NST.

Wan Azlan added statements are in the midst of being recorded from witnesses by the investigating officer.

The suspect has been remanded for four days starting today (Jul 15) at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court to assist in investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon or dangerous object.

He faces a maximum jail term of 10 years, a fine, or both if convicted.

The shocking event was first brought to light through several viral clips shared online, where it showed students at the private university attending to the victim who was slashed at the neck.

Some were also seen restraining her ex-boyfriend by wrestling him to the ground and holding him in a headlock while waiting for police to arrive.
