Video editing apps for mobile have improved a lot in recent years, but few have offered the kind of control and precision found on desktop software. Adobe is aiming to change that with its Premiere app for iPhone, which replaces the older Premiere Rush. The new app includes multi-track timelines, 4K HDR support, AI-powered tools, and social media export features, all designed for creators who want to edit on the go or start on mobile and finish on desktop.
Useful Features in Practice
Some features are particularly handy depending on what you want to do. If you want to quickly add captions or subtitles, the automatic captioning can save a lot of time. One-tap export and auto-resizing make posting to TikTok or Instagram less fiddly. Frame-accurate trimming and unlimited layers give more control if you’re piecing together a complex project. Meanwhile, AI-powered voice enhancement can help if you record audio in a noisy environment, and generative sound effects can be useful if you want a specific mood or timing without hunting for the perfect clip.
Editing Tools and AI Features
Premiere on iPhone carries over many tools from its desktop version, including a multi-track timeline, unlimited video/audio/text layers, and frame-accurate trimming. Users can also edit 4K HDR video and automatically generate captions.
AI features are built in via Adobe Firefly. Users can generate video, audio, and visual assets using text prompts, produce cleaner voiceovers in noisy environments with Enhance Speech, and create custom sound effects with Generative Sound Effects. Those who prefer not to use AI still have access to millions of Adobe Stock assets, Adobe Fonts, and Lightroom presets.
Social Media and Workflow Integration
The app is designed for short-form platforms, with one-tap export to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram. It automatically resizes videos to fit each platform and keeps the main action in frame. Projects can also be continued on Premiere Pro desktop through Frame.io, which makes it easier to start on mobile and finish on a computer if needed.
Free to Use, But Some Features Are Paid
Most core features are free, with no watermarks or ads. Some advanced tools, like AI-generated assets, enhanced voiceovers, and extra cloud storage, require a subscription starting at RM37 (USD8) per month or RM325 (USD70) annually.
Availability
Adobe Premiere for iPhone will be released on 30 September 2025, with pre-orders available now on the App Store. An Android version is in development, but the release date has not been confirmed.
