Thousands join Malaysia Day 2025 Run in Bintulu to celebrate unity and togetherness

BINTULU (Sept 16): The spirit of unity and celebration was on full display this morning as about 3,000 participants laced up their running shoes for the Malaysia Day 2025 Run, held at the Dewan Suarah Bintulu compound.

The event was flagged off by Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, who is also the minister in-charge of this year’s Sarawak-level Malaysia Day celebration.

Joining him at the lively occasion were his wife Datin Sri Loretta Sawot, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and his wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, along with Deputy Ministers Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, and Datuk Martin Ben.

Also present were senior government officials including Deputy State Secretaries Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel and Datu Hii Chang Kee, Tanjong Batu assemblymen Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Bintulu Resident Datu Nyurak Keti, heads of departments and other distinguished guests.

The 6km run, which began with an energetic aerobics session, symbolised the vibrant unity of Sarawakians from all walks of life, coming together to celebrate the nation’s shared journey since the formation of Malaysia.

Today’s run forms part of a series of programmes leading up to the Sarawak-level Malaysia Day 2025 celebration, the highlight of which will take place tonight at the Bintulu Old Airport grounds.

With colourful outfits, cheerful camaraderie, and the infectious enthusiasm of thousands, the Malaysia Day Run not only promoted a healthy lifestyle but also reinforced the enduring spirit of togetherness that defines the essence of Malaysia Day.
