Sarawak athletes to receive special incentives for SEA Games 2025 medals

KUCHING, Dec 8: Sarawak will reward its athletes who shine at the SEA Games Bangkok 2025 with special incentives on top of federal rewards.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said more than 50 Sarawak athletes are representing Malaysia at the Games.

“If Sarawak athletes win gold, silver or bronze, there will be special incentives, which will be announced later. Usually, Sarawak contributes around half of the federal incentive,” he told reporters during his visit to Bangkok, as reported by Suara Sarawak.

Abdul Karim further said the State also provides early incentives to help athletes with competition expenses, with payments credited directly to their accounts for speed and transparency.

He added that the rewards system is not limited to the SEA Games, but also applies to the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympics, ensuring athletes receive recognition for international achievements. — DayakDaily
