Only in Malaysia.

Entrepreneur Khairul Aming hasn’t even opened his restaurant, hasn’t revealed the full menu, yet the “reviews” have already come flooding in.

Within hours of his announcement yesterday that he’s launching his very first restaurant Rembayung in Kg Baru, Kuala Lumpur next year, Malaysians did what Malaysians do best:

Go to Google, click 5 Stars, and express their desire to visit once doors open… next year.

Not only that, some left 1 star reviews with silly remarks attached.

Some claimed they “went there already” but this could have been the few who were invited for a food tasting, but this can’t be independently verified.

The enthusiasm got so intense that Rembayung’s Google listing has now been hidden or temporarily removed after being spammed with praise, jokes, and the occasional “tak sabar nak cuba” comment.

At last count, the listing had collected 597 reviews before it disappeared.

However, this morning, another listing appeared under the name Rembayung Restaurant and this one has collected close to 400 reviews. It is unclear if this is an official listing or created by someone not tied to the restaurant.

Khairul Aming, who announced his big project in a heartfelt video yesterday, shared that the restaurant is expected to open sometime next year.

Fans are already imagining a sambal-smelling heaven with industrial lighting and vibes as wholesome as his Ramadan cooking videos.

Known for his Rendang and Sambal Nyet ready-to-eat products, Khairul Aming revealed that the restaurant had been under wraps for the past year.

Wirh an initial capital of RM4 million, the restaurant is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, a mere 9 minutes away from KLCC.

‘This is the biggest investment I have ever made in one single project,” he said in the video.

He said after 10 years of being in the online business, he was now ready to step into the offline world with Rembayung.

Last night, Khairul Aming held a Live session on social media where he shared more details.

The restaurant is set to open January 2026 but there will be no walk-ins, only by reservation.

He explained that the reason behind this is that he wants to prevent customers from queueing up for a table.

And if the pre-launch hype is anything to go by, the place will probably be fully booked until 2035.

For now, Malaysians will just have to wait patiently, preferably without reviewing their plans to visit. But knowing us, someone is probably already drafting a 1,000-word Google Maps essay titled “THIS CHANGED MY LIFE”.
