The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has addressed the viral video of a trailer carrying a helicopter in Subang Jaya, Selangor, which got stuck while exiting the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) and caused a traffic jam.
However, Subang Jaya District Police found nothing amusing about the incident, as causing obstruction and inconvenience to other road users is an offence under the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
Subang Jaya District Police addressed the viral incident of a lorry carrying a helicopter getting stuck at the KESAS exit
Sinar Harian quoted Subang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat as saying that the police received a report on the viral video at 8:06 PM yesterday (12 December).
However, initial investigations found that the incident took place at the Jalan Persiaran Kewajipan KESAS exit on 4 December at around 4:30 PM.
Furthermore, Wan Azlan revealed that not only did the stuck trailer cause a traffic jam, but it also blocked an ambulance at the location from passing through.
The case is being investigated under Rule 9(2) LN 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959
“So far, the police have yet to identify the registration number of the vehicle involved in the incident. The case is being investigated under Rule 9(2) LN 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959,” the Subang Jaya District Police Chief said.
For reference, the mentioned rule requires all vehicles to give way to emergency vehicles (ambulance, firefighters, police and others) sounding a siren, by moving to the left, stopping and allowing them priority.
Wan Azlan urged members of the public with information on the incident to come forward to assist the investigation by contacting the Investigating Officer of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters, Inspector Mohd Azizul Hakim Roslan at 011-28914495.
