Kuching, Serian, Samarahan issued thunderstorm warning until 9pm (Dec 28)

KUCHING, Dec 28: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for three areas in Sarawak, with heavy rain and strong winds expected until 9pm tonight.

According to a Facebook post, the areas in Sarawak are Kuching, Serian, and Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya).

“A warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that are imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert and is valid for no more than six hours per issuance,” said the department.

Members of the public are advised to practice caution, avoid outdoor activities during severe weather, and monitor official updates for further advisories. — DayakDaily
