'Revolver Rita' Movie Ending Explained And Summary:  Did Rita Kill Reddy? 

Revolver Rita, directed by J.K. Chandru, is the story of a girl who found herself stuck in a mess after an infamous gangster accidentally died at her house. The gangster’s son, who was even more dangerous than him, started looking for his father, and Rita realized that she would need a miracle to make it out of the situation alive. So let’s find out what happened in the film and if Rita was able to turn the odds in her favor.

Who killed Reddy’s elder brother? 

At the beginning of the film, we were shown two independent incidents: one where a man named Prabhakar took his own life, and the other where a dreaded gangster, Dracula Bobby, son of Dracula Pandiyan, killed a politician named Narsimha Reddy. In the first incident, Prabhakar had bought land worth 2 crore rupees using his entire life’s savings. After he made the purchase and transferred the money, he realized that he had been duped. Prabhakar didn’t know how he would support his family, and what he would tell his wife after losing all the money he had. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to see his family suffer, and so, out of guilt, he took his own life. Narsimha and Dracula Pandiyan had a dispute over land. Narsimha insulted Pandiyan in front of everybody, and Bobby, Pandiyan’s son, couldn’t control his anger after witnessing that. Bobby killed Narsimha and sent his severed head to the latter’s younger brother, Reddy. That day, Reddy made a vow to himself that he would do whatever it took to kill Bobby and his father and take his revenge. Though we were not told anything in the beginning about Prabhakar’s involvement with the Reddy killing, it was obvious that the two events were somehow connected. 

How did Rita’s mother kill Dracula Pandiyan? 

Years passed, and Reddy was still not able to take revenge for his brother’s murder. He had tried to have Bobby or Pandiyan killed many times, but I believe he failed each time. But then one of his men, Martin, decided to do something to help his cause. Martin wanted to earn a quick buck, and so he decided to make a deal with Reddy. Reddy had promised to give Martin a sum of 4 crores if he was able to kill Pandiyan for him. So Martin laid a trap using Lallu’s (a pimp) help. Pandiyan often hired female escorts from Lallu’s agency, and generally Lallu messaged him the address of a bungalow. This time, Martin and his men were waiting for Pandiyan to arrive so that they could kill him there. Pandiyan generally sneaked out of his house late at night because he knew that Bobby, his son, wouldn’t appreciate that he risked his safety by going out alone. But then something unprecedented happened. Pandiyan smoked some hallucinogens inside his car, and then it became hard for him to figure out where Lallu’s house was. Pandiyan accidentally reached the house of Rita, who was making arrangements for the birthday party of her nephew. Pandiyan was too inebriated to understand what was happening. He just stood in front of Rita and her mother and stared at them. Dracula Pandiyan thought that Rita was the female escort, and his presence scared both Rita and her mother. Chellamma, Rita’s mother, hit Pandiyan with a pan in self-defense, and the man fell to the floor instantly. Blood started oozing out of his head, and Rita realised that he had died. Rita and her mother had no clue who the man was until Rita’s elder sister arrived at the house. Rita, her mother, and her two sisters were petrified, as they didn’t know what they should do and how they should deal with the mess. All this while, Martin and his men were sitting outside Rita’s house in their car, and they were listening to all the conversations happening through Pandiyan’s mobile phone. One of them had given Pandiyan a call, and Rita didn’t know that the call was still connected. Martin’s plan was to barge into the house, take the body, and give its severed head to Reddy. But once again, there came a twist in the narrative, something that nobody saw coming.

How did Rita get Kamaraja and Bobby killed? 

Martin’s right-hand man, Das, killed him, as he had realized that his boss wasn’t a trustworthy man. Das and two other men, Kumar and Babu, who worked for Martin, had no clue that he had made a deal for 5 crore rupees with Reddy. Also, Martin had plans of killing Lallu so that he had one less person to split the money with. But Das killed Martin, and then he contacted Reddy and told him that he would deliver him the dead body of Pandiyan. Das hadn’t yet removed the dead body from Rita’s house, and when he reached there, he realized that nobody was at home. Rita bought a second hand car because she needed a vehicle to take the dead body and dispose of it in. 

Unfortunately, she bought Pandiyan’s car that he had parked close to her house before he went to meet Lallu. Pandiyan’s car had been stolen, and the dealer sold it to Rita. Meanwhile, Bobby was on the lookout for his father’s killer, and he tracked down the man who stole his father’s car.  Bobby told Inspector Kamaraja about whatever had happened, and the moment the latter realized that Rita was involved in the issue, he got even more interested. Back in the day, Rita had recorded Kamaraja bullying a shopkeeper, and she had uploaded a video on social media. The video went viral and Kamaraja was suspended, and so he’d held a grudge against Rita since that day. Kamaraja got hold of Rita and took her to the police station. He was determined to pin some false charges on her but the latter managed to escape from the police station. Till that time, Das was following Rita’s car, as he knew she had the dead body. Das caught Rita, and that’s when it was revealed that Lallu, the broker, had stolen the suitcase in which the dead body was kept. Das found and killed Lallu and then took Rita and her family to an isolated place, where he called Reddy and asked him to bring his 5 crore rupees. Now this is where things start to get a bit chaotic, as I believe the director wanted to find a way to give poetic justice to his protagonist. Rita wooed one of Das’ men, Babu, and turned him against his boss. Babu killed Das, and then Rita attacked and then chained him. Rita then called Inspector Kamaraja and told him about everything. Kamaraja was demanding 50 lakhs from her, and so she told him to call Reddy and take the 5 crores he was supposed to give. Kamaraja contacted Reddy, but just then Bobby arrived at the scene. Rita knew that Bobby and his men were waiting outside her younger sister’s exam center and that they would abduct her the moment she came out. So Rita had already told her sister to bring Bobby to the specified location. The moment Bobby arrived at the scene, Rita framed Kamaraja and told Bobby that he was the one who was dealing with Reddy. Bobby killed Kamaraja before giving him an opportunity to explain what he had done. To make things even more chaotic, Reddy also arrived at the scene, and Rita helped him kill Bobby. Rita played her cards very smartly and brought the odds in her favor. She used Das’ men to get him killed and then turned Kamaraja and Bobby against each other.

Why Did Rita Kill Reddy? 

Reddy was grateful to Rita for helping him kill Bobby and making sure that he got his revenge. But that’s when Rita turned against him too, and Reddy couldn’t understand why she wanted to kill him. It was at the end of Revolver Rita that we got to know that the man who had duped Prabhakar, i.e., Rita’s father, was none other than Reddy. Rita told Reddy that she was just a young kid when she saw her father take his own life.  She said that she couldn’t even understand what had happened, but the incident left a scar that she found extremely hard to heal. When Rita got to know that Reddy was involved in everything, she decided to make a plan to kill him. She knew that this was the only way she could murder him, take her revenge, and walk away with it. So Rita killed Reddy and then took her 5 crore rupees. Bobby’s younger brother, Cheetah, was still alive, and he was just an innocent man who didn’t have any role to play in whatever had happened. In fact, Cheetah never got the respect that he craved from the world. His own family looked down on him because of his physical disadvantages. So while Rita was leaving, he asked her to let him take the onus of whatever had happened so that people would fear him in the future and he would become the new don of the city. He told Rita that he would protect her as long as he was alive and make sure nobody dared to do anything to her. Rita agreed, and she left the scene. I believe Rita’s and her family’s lives will come back on track, and henceforth they won’t have to toil so hard to earn their livelihood.
