Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 5 Theories And Predictions

With fourth chapter of the ongoing season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” has taken up the anime world by storm; fans are going crazy over the long-awaited spectacle of the Zenin clan massacre—many have even hailed “Perfect Preparation” as the greatest episode of the anime series so far. The hype meter has reached its peak, and viewers who aren’t even in touch with the lore of the latest arc have decided to tune in. After losing her sister, awakening the pure form of Heavenly Restriction, and exterminating her entire clan, what is next for Maki? Also, with the Culling Game about to begin, how are the Jujutsu High students faring against newly emerged sorcerers/cursed energy users? From the preview shared in the final moments of the fourth episode, and without spoiling much from the manga, I will try to highlight what can be expected from the next episode of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”

Spoilers Ahead

Maki’s Revenge Is Still Incomplete: Naoya Might Return

Maki’s agony, rage, and desperation of being treated as sub-human by the toxic, patriarchal, and power-hungry members of the Zenin clan since her birth found an outlet as she went on a killing spree to avenge her later twin sister, Mai. Wielding a perfect copy of Toji’s Split Soul katana, created by Mai mere moments before her demise, Maki butchered Kukuru and Hei, two major factions of the Zenin clan’s military might, which included figureheads like Ogi, Jinichi, and Ranta. Later on Maki even hunted down the clan members who were not present in the compound, which just shows how driven she was in her single-minded pursuit of wiping out the decrepit order. However, one of the core members of the Zenin clan might still make a posthumous return in the future, as the rules of Jujutsu allow a chance for him to return as a cursed spirit. According to the rules of Jujutsu, a sorcerer whose death is caused by natural means, without any involvement of cursed energy, will return as a cursed spirit.  Naoya Zenin, the irritable, misogynist son of former clan chief Naobito, died at the hands of a non-sorcerer—Maki’s mother—with no cursed energy or cursed tool involved. Maki might have smashed up his face, leaving him in a near-death condition, but she didn’t take his life at the end—and this mistake might prove costly later on. With the Culling Games about to begin, it will be a troublesome affair if Naoya makes a return as a cursed spirit, Naoya makes a return, Kenjaku and takes advantage of the situation by using him for his malevolent plans.

Will Jujutsu Higher-Ups Target Maki?

Maki has singlehandedly shaken up the established structure of Jujutsu society by exterminating an entire clan, allowing the Kamo and Gojo clans to take advantage of the situation by removing the Zenins from their former position as one of the influential sorcerer families. It will be interesting to see how the regressive, prejudiced Jujutsu higher-ups respond to Maki’s actions. They allowed the sins of the Zenin clan to fester through all these years; despite having the chance to interfere, Jujutsu higher-ups turned a blind eye to the Zenins’ problematic aspects by terming them as their internal affairs. Now that an empowered Heavenly Restriction user has broken through the shackles of the Zenins and purged the family from within, the higher-ups might try to target Maki for demolishing the established status quo. Alternatively, the higher-ups might do nothing at all, given the rest of the two big families of Jujutsu have already exploited the power vacuum created by the Zenin clan massacre. It will also be interesting to see how Maki’s close ones respond to her actions, although I am pretty sure Megumi, Yuta, Yuji, and others knew full well that the Zenins had this coming.

Hakari Will Make His First Appearance

Lastly, one of the fan-favorite characters of the Jujutsu fandom, Kinji Hakari, is going to make his first appearance in the anime in the upcoming episodes. As previously seen in Tengen’s realm, while planning for the upcoming Culling Game, Yuta and Maki advise the duo of Yuji and Megumi to seek out the suspended third-year Jujutsu High student, Kinji Hakari. Yuta has mentioned Hakari to be even stronger than him on certain occasions, and his recommendation is enough to clarify how important the character is going to be in the upcoming sorcerer battle royale. Aside from being an extremely strong sorcerer, Hakari is famous for his unique, if not a bit confusing, cursed technique. Without spoiling much, I can say Hakari’s overpowered cursed technique is going to be a treat to watch. Yuji and Megumi have to convince Hakari to join hands for the upcoming crisis—as revealed in the preview of the upcoming episode.

Aside from these, Yuta’s first battle in the Culling Game, Suluna’s plans for the heroes, and the unique and strange cursed techniques of new sorcerers are some of the crucial plot points that might be highlighted in the upcoming episode. All in all, “Jujutsu Kaisen” fans are going to have a hell of a time as Kenjaku’s plan manifests.
