KUALA LUMPUR: The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) is organising a pioneering creative workshop for persons with disabilities (PWD) focused on voice acting and radio drama.
This initiative aims to strengthen the creative industry ecosystem by expanding access to training and nurturing new talent.
Finas views the programme as a novel approach to human capital development within the creative sector.
The agency stated that voice acting and radio drama have significant potential to create career opportunities for the PWD community.
The three-day workshop begins on Feb 10 and will concentrate on vocal techniques, breathing, intonation and articulation.
Participants will also gain exposure to radio drama, voice-over work, voice advertising and animation.
Experienced instructors will lead the sessions, including programme adviser Datuk Fauziah Nawi and vocal coach Siti Hajar Ismail.
Actor Adam Shahz, winner of Best New Actor at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival, will also be involved.
The closing ceremony and certificate presentation are scheduled for Feb 13 to coincide with World Radio Day.
Finas hopes to expand similar initiatives through collaborations with government and private broadcasters.
This expansion aims to create more employment and professional involvement for the PWD community in the creative industry.
The workshop is organised in collaboration with the Digital Artistic Heritage Arts Association of Malaysia.
