What happens in the film?

“God’s Soldier” kicks off with a little backstory about May Lee’s origin. It takes us to 2002 when the Ebola virus outbreak shook the world. May Lee’s parents, Anada and May, work for a private organization that plans to cause a disruption with a pandemic and sell the vaccine for profits. In another part of the world, we see Gina, a deadly soldier, who sneaks past the surveillance and ambushes armed guards outside a villa. Slowly, she makes her way inside and confronts a man named Guzman over his alleged sins, before shooting him dead.

While working in the secret organization, one day, May accidentally cuts her finger and comes in contact with the Ebola-infected blood sample. This sends both of them into a panic as May is pregnant with May Lee. To save their daughter, they decide to go for a premature delivery. In the process, May dies, and the newborn baby stays confined within a protective glass box for further scans.  A heartbroken Ananda keeps working relentlessly, researching for the Ebola vaccine. One day, one of his colleagues informs him that May Lee’s blood denied Ebola strains and the virus could not infect her. Anada requests he keep it under wraps, but the colleague snitches about the discovery to the authorities, who come for May Lee and end up killing her father . But shortly before getting shot in the head, Anada sends May Lee to a distant village in Burma.

Needless to say, the groundbreaking discovery hit many radars, including organizations like the CIA and MI6. Twelve years go by, and CIA Chief Mr. Delgado wants to hunt May Lee down. An MI6 operator, Steiner takes his soldiers and plans to retrieve the girl from Kanchanaburi Province in Thailand. Initially, they round up the innocent villagers and their children in search of May Lee but fail to spot her. Steiner orders his men to take blood samples from the children to run a quick analysis, and eventually, they identify May Lee from the crowd. When two elderly villagers guard the girl, helping her escape, Steiner shoots them dead. His men then shoot all the remaining children and the villagers. May Lee watches the bloodbath while hiding, and due to the shock of witnessing such a horrific thing at a tender age, she loses the ability to speak. She does run away, and Steiner keeps looking for her.

Where Is May Lee?

Lee became a part of the orphanage home in Bangkok run by Gina. Lee and the other children in the orphanage engage in community work, like giving out food and medical supplies to the people in need. Gina is still unaware of the shock Lee has gone through; she only wishes that God grants Lee enough strength to talk.

One day, Lee notices Gina getting disoriented and notices her falling on the ground. She does not question anything but gets a bit worried and curious at the same time. Lee secretly watches Gina praying in front of the Lord. When Gina grabs the cross in her hand too tightly, blood starts to flow down from her hands. Lee finds this ritual a bit weird but decides to let it slide. After all, Gina has always been gentle, caring, and careful with her. However, Lee’s peaceful hideout soon comes to light. Nop, a former Thai commando who now works as a secret informant, informs Mr. Delgado of Lee’s current whereabouts. He contacts Steiner, urging him to bring May Lee to him at all costs. Shortly after, Steiner arrives at the orphanage with two highly trained and deadly assassins, Sebastian and Vassilief, all three of them disguised as philanthropists.

Steiner offers Gina to help out with supplies, once she reveals the number of children, their ethnicities, and ages. But Gina firmly denies giving him any details about the orphans. Instead, she takes him for a quick tour, leaving behind Vassilief and Sebastian with the children. The two assassins try to blend in first, but habits soon catch up to them as  looking at how Sebastian shows a knife to an orphan, Gina immediately pulls him away. As Steiner slowly gets out of the orphanage, searching the rooms, May Lee watches everything still hiding safely. Lee might not recognize Sebastian and Vassilief, but she can’t forget Steiner, the man who already gave her so much trauma. Getting very scared at the sight of him, she decides to go far away from the orphanage and get back to her village. However, she barely remembers the way. While travelling, she meets a woman named Sunee, who looks at her grandparent’s photographs and promises to guide her. Sunee takes May Lee to a distant monastery, and after listening to Sunee’s comforting words, Lee falls asleep. However, Lee is unaware that this is a trap set for her, as Sunee works for Steiner. Meanwhile, Nop sends his brother to Steiner for assistance.

Does Gina kill Steiner?

For years, Steiner supervised the training of mercenaries and took in new students under a secret program called Gradual Immersive Neutralizer Agent (G.I.N.A.). He did not remember how she looked, but when she snatched the child away from Sebastian, Steiner noticed that Gina’s movements were agile, just like a soldier’s. After Lee flees from the orphanage, Steiner, Vassilief, and Sebastian revisit the place, and torture Gina. They beat her unconscious and hung her from a wooden cross by tying her hands with barbed wire. Although they think that Gina is dead, she regains her senses after hours and decides that it is time to give her alter ego another shot. Gina gathers her firearms, and suits up. She ambushes Nop in his exotic bar, shoots him in the arm, and demands answers. Nop confirms that Lee is going back to the Burmese borders, and once Gina leaves, he calls up Steiner, letting him know about the nun.

While Steiner arrives in the area, he takes the help of Keo, a local mob boss, who shows him the location of the monastery. Steiner, Nop’s brother, Vassilief, arrive, along with Sebastian who subdues Lee while Steiner thanks Sunee for the help. Sebastian, who has a deranged mind, gets irritated with Vassilief and stabs him to death. He also kills Sunee after assaulting her for no reason. On the other hand, Gina gets captured by Keo’s troops, but she fights her way out of the mob’s holdout, taking Keo with her. By the time she gets there, Steiner and his goons have left the monastery. Gina fights his men off, blows Keo up with a grenade, and escapes with May Lee. When Steiner finds out, he kills Nop’s brother out of frustration and calls Nop for help. He goes to Lee’s village, and there, his men capture Gina. Steiner orders her to be kept in a cage while he locks Lee up. Gina then finds out from Steiner that her mission of killing Guzman was unnecessary; it was him who sent her to kill an innocent man and his son. Steiner then shoots Gina, which shocks Lee so much that she finally gets her voice back. But thankfully, Gina survives. Upon regaining consciousness, she finds Nop in commando gear, who has come to avenge his brother’s death. When Gina finds Lee, she kills Sebastian for misbehaving with the girl. However, Steiner soon catches Lee and threatens to kill Gina. But she does not flinch at all ; instead, she shoots Steiner thrice in a dramatic manner, ultimately killing him in the name of God, thus bringing the story full circle.

Lee gets to return to her normal life, and this time around, she willfully donates her blood to the World Health Organization. Mr. Delgado faces humiliation from his agency, but he gets the shock of his life when Nop reveals in a phone call that it is no longer a secret that he was the mastermind behind killing Guzman. As Delgado sweats over it, we see Gina getting ready to kill Delgado, fully equipped with her gear. Gina is serving justice to every perpetrator she knows, like a soldier sent by God.
