10 cheques worth RM6m deposited into Bersatu party account – Witness

THE High Court was told that 10 cheques totaling RM6 million were deposited into Bersatu’s party account between February and November 2022.

Prosecution witness, AmBank Assistant Manager, Nor Paizah Osman, 45, said the deposit was identified based on a review of the account statements submitted to the court.

Nor Paizah said this when answering questions from lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, while giving evidence in the trial involving former Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

According to Nor Paizah, who is also the prosecution's third witness, the total amount of money deposited via cheques during the period in question was RM6 million.

All cheques deposited into the account were processed as normal banking transactions without any issues between the issuing bank and the receiving bank.

“If there are any issues related to the cheques, the bank will usually contact the bank that issued the cheque for further action.

“However, no issues were reported regarding the cheques deposited into the account,” Nor Paizah explained.

According to the charges, Muhyiddin, 79, who was then Prime Minister and Bersatu President, was charged with four counts of using his position to obtain bribes totaling RM232.5 million related to the Jana Wibawa Project from three companies and an individual for the party.

He also faces three counts of money laundering involving a total of RM200 million allegedly deposited into Bersatu’s bank accounts between February 2021 and July 2022.

Proceedings were conducted before Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin and are scheduled to continue on April 13 to hear the testimony of a fourth witness. – March 11, 2026
