Club Med Is Opening Its Newest Resort In Borneo

Club Med has announced that reservations for its upcoming Club Med Borneo resort will officially open on 24 March 2026, marking a major milestone in the brand’s expansion in Southeast Asia.

Located in Kuala Penyu, approximately 90 minutes from Kota Kinabalu, the new beachfront resort is set to welcome its first guests in November 2026. It will be Club Med’s second property in Malaysia, following the long-standing success of its Cherating resort.

A Nature-Led Escape

Set between rainforest landscapes and the South China Sea, Club Med Borneo is designed to offer a balance of relaxation and exploration. The resort’s architecture draws inspiration from traditional Rumah Rungus longhouses, blending local heritage with contemporary design.

Spanning 17 hectares, the resort will feature 400 rooms, including 39 Exclusive Collection Suites for guests seeking a more private and elevated stay experience.

All-Inclusive Experiences

The resort will offer a wide range of all-inclusive amenities and experiences, catering to families, couples, and groups. Facilities include multiple dining venues, an infinity pool, a family-friendly splash park, and a dedicated wellness spa set within a forest environment.

Club Med’s signature Kids’ Club programmes will also be available, catering to children from as young as four months to teenagers, alongside nightly entertainment and live performances.

For those seeking adventure, guests can explore nearby attractions such as mangrove reserves, island excursions, and wildlife river cruises, as well as cultural experiences including local workshops and traditional performances.

Sustainability and Community

Club Med Borneo is designed with sustainability at its core, with ambitions to meet BREEAM certification standards. The resort incorporates eco-conscious infrastructure, energy-efficient systems, and initiatives to reduce single-use plastics.

The development is also expected to support local communities by generating over 350 jobs, while collaborating with regional partners to promote biodiversity awareness and conservation efforts.

The launch of Club Med Borneo reflects growing confidence in Malaysia as a premium travel destination, particularly as the country prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026.

With its combination of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and all-inclusive convenience, the resort is positioned to attract both regional and international travellers.
