'The Pitt' Season 3 Theories And Predictions: Will Robby Adopt Baby Jane Doe?

The Pitt Season 2 has come to an end, and Season 3 is supposed to start filming in June 2026 so that it can be ready to go in January 2027. Since 10 months had passed between seasons 1 and 2, only a select-few plot threads from Season 1 were continued in Season 2. I’d say Langdon’s drug addiction in Season 1 had a big impact on his subplot in Season 2, because we got to see how well he had recovered from that incident and whether or not he was ready to be a part of the ER again. Santos’ relationship with Garcia and Whitaker was in the background in Season 1, and it did spill over into the everyday conversations between the three of them in Season 2. And then there were Robby’s suicidal tendencies, which were prominent in Season 1 but really took up all the space in Season 2. But, yeah, that’s about it. However, since the time-jump between seasons 2 and 3 will be just 4 months, I think we can expect some more plot-related overlap. With that in mind, allow me to theorize what may or may not happen in The Pitt Season 3. Remember: these are just theories, not confirmations being beamed into my mind by R. Scott Gemmill.

Spoiler Alert

Will Baran Return?

No. I think Baran is done. There’s no way she’ll be allowed to return to the ER. She suffers from absent seizures, and the frightening part is that she doesn’t know what triggered it. She said that it’s been under control for several years, which is why she has been able to do her job properly. But maybe it’s the stress or sleep deprivation that has worsened her medical condition. The remedies she talked about didn’t instill any confidence in Robby, who was adamant about giving Baran the boot, because he saw her as a liability rather than someone, he could rely on. Since Sepideh Moafi has hinted that there are plans to continue Baran’s story, I am guessing her neurologist is going to pull off some kind of a miracle and clear her for active duty. If that happens, I’ll be a happy customer because I love Moafi’s performance.

What Will Happen In Mel’s Second Deposition Hearing?

In the mid-credits scene of The Pitt Season 2, Mel was spotted having a gala time at the karaoke bar with Santos, but that doesn’t mean that she’s gonna have a great time in Season 3. For starters, she’s due for another deposition hearing. We saw what the first deposition did to her mental health. So, you can expect her to go off the rails before the second one. To make things worse, she has come to the devastating realization that while she dedicated her whole life to accompanying Becca all the time, Becca has found a companion for herself and moved on. What does Mel have except for her job? Yeah, that’s what she has to find out.

Will McKay’s Date Affect Her Life?

I’m not sure that McKay was on time for her date, but it’s evident that she’s yearning for some romance in her life. I like the fact that the fandom keeps imagining that she’s into women, but she keeps going for guys. Well, even though I am not a big supporter of artists listening to their fans, I hope they do when it comes to McKay’s love life. It’s possible that the reason why she’s so unsatisfied regarding her romantic flings is because she keeps swinging towards men. Maybe she needs to swing the other way and see if that does more for her, thereby allowing her to achieve better work-life balance.

Will Whitaker Get Serious With Amy?

Whitaker has been pretty nonchalant about his relationship with Amy, but that final moment between him, Amy, and Theo (Amy’s kid) made it look like they were a family that lived on a farm. Whitaker is a really nice guy, which is why both Santos and Robby want him in their house. But I don’t know why Whitaker is bothering with being a tenant at Santos or Robby’s house when Amy is right there? Can’t he just move in with her and call it a day? I mean, did you all see how she looks at him? Did you see how Theo looks at him? So, yeah, for his sake, I hope he makes things official with Amy. He has the potential to be the senior attending physician of the ER; he just needs to sort out his personal life a bit.

Will Santos Address Her Self-Harming Tendencies?

One of the biggest unaddressed topics in The Pitt is Santos’ self-harming tendencies. In Season 2, we saw marks on her thighs, and she was even spotted pocketing a scalpel. Was that some subtle foreshadowing for something serious that’s about to happen to her? We know that she has broken up with Garcia; or at least she has come to the brutal realization that Garcia doesn’t take their romantic relationship as seriously as she does. Whitaker is moving out. And on top of all that, there’s the threat of her repeating her residency. So, yeah, if Santos has a tendency to inflict pain upon herself, and if the show has already spent 2 seasons hinting at it, I think Season 3 should put the spotlight on her instead of treating her like a joke.

Will Duke Live Or Die?

Season 2 spent an ungodly amount of time on Duke, and even though he claimed that he would come in for his regular checkups, I have a feeling that he won’t. And that will bring him into the ER in Season 3. I mean, I don’t think the writers are going to give Duke’s faulty heart all that buildup and then hold back on the payoff. Each season has tested Robby in different ways, and putting Duke at death’s door is a great way of putting Robby through the wringer. The thing about Duke is that he can’t be fixed in the ER; he’ll need to go into surgery. So, if Duke stays alive for the next 4 months, and doesn’t just croak in his house, he’ll go to the OR, and it’ll be up to the cardiac surgeons to bring him back from the brink. That’s bound to be torturous for Robby, and it’ll be interesting to see how that affects his work.

What Will Ellis’ Role Be?

As per the reports, Ellis is going to be a “series regular,” which must mean that she is gonna transfer from the night shift to the day shift. I know there have been rumors about a night shift spinoff show, but I don’t think that’s happening any time soon. We know next to nothing about her. I know that she’s a fan-favorite. So, I hope to learn who she is, what makes her tick, what flaws she has, and more.

What Can We Expect From Victoria?

Victoria announced that she’s gonna shift to the emergency psychiatry department. Does that mean we won’t see a lot of her in Season 3 because she’ll be training for that? I don’t know, if I lose Samira and Victoria in the same season, I am going to officially lose it. I am not sure how long it takes to achieve any kind of mastery in that subject, and I have a feeling it’s not 4 months. So, yeah, I think I have to start mentally preparing myself for limited Victoria sightings in Season 3. I think Joy, Ogilvie, and Emma will fill up that void. Will that be enough though? I am not sure, but hey, maybe in Season 4, Victoria will have more screentime again.

What New Cases Can We Expect To See?

As per the reports, The Pitt Season 3 is going to take place in the winter. So, maybe we’ll see cases of hypothermia, frostbite, some kind of a flu outbreak, pneumonia, and bronchitis. Snow causes a lot of accidents. Hence, I am sure we’ll see the doctors and nurses in the ER cutting through layer after layer of warm clothing to get to the root of the issue that their patients are suffering from. The blackout in Season 2 didn’t turn out to be such a big deal. Therefore, I want a real blackout in Season 3; you know, like a power outage. Yeah, the staff in the ER keep talking about regulating the temperature. I want to see what happens when it’s peak winter season and there’s no way to keep things warm or cold enough. Do I sound like a sadist for saying that? I don’t care; make it snow inside the ER!

Will Robby Leave The ER And Adopt Baby Jane Doe?

Is this a safe space? Can I say something scandalous? Alright, I am getting sick of Robby (and Wyle’s off-screen shenanigans might be contributing to my hatred of the character). I think he can hang around for Season 3 because, as mentioned before, he needs to take care of Duke, who is most certainly going to suffer a cardiac arrest or some other heart-related complication. After that, Robby either needs to die, go on sabbatical, or go to therapy (as suggested by Langdon). Wyle isn’t going anywhere when it comes to writing, producing, and directing some episodes of the show. But yeah, I think I need a break from the character. Every season can’t just be about him and his problems. I mean, in Season 1, there was a balance between his issues and everyone else’s. Season 2, that balance was broken. And if this trend continues, Season 3 is gonna suffer from Wyle’s narcissism and over-indulgence more than the last 2 seasons did. So, to avoid some kinda Robby fatigue, he needs to step away and let someone else be the day shift’s attending physician. Maybe he can adopt Baby Jane Doe and spend some time away from the ER taking care of her. Robby was abandoned by his mother at a very young age and he can relate to what Baby Jane Doe might feel when she finds out that she was abandoned. Hence, he’ll be able to give her the upbringing and support he never got, which in turn will heal his inner child.

Will Samira Return To The ER?

The backlash against Supriya’s exit from the show has been massive. It’s been so loud that Wyle has had to address it. I think the fact that Tracy Ifeachor, Krystel Mcneil, and Michale Hyatt are not returning for Season 2 added fuel to this fire. They gave a very bad reasoning for Heather’s departure, but Gloria and Kiara’s names weren’t even brought up. And since Samira is such a fan-favorite character, and given how she didn’t even show any signs of wanting to leave the ER in the finale, it’s not surprising that people are angry and they want her back. I think the script for Season 3 has already been written, and there’s no way to accommodate her in that chapter of the show. However, there’s a good chance that the showrunners will correct this misstep and bring her back in Season 4. I know it won’t happen, but it’ll be so cool to see her in an administrative position and as Robby’s boss; fingers crossed, I guess. Anyway, those are just my theories and expectations from Season 3 of The Pitt. If you have any thoughts that you want to share with us, the comments section is open for you.
