Euphoria: Did Angel And The DEA Attack Alamo’s Silver Slipper? [Theory]

[Spoiler Alert] I know many of you, including our friend, Alamo Brown, think that it was Laurie who ordered the hit on Alamo’s Silver Slipper to avenge Paladin’s death, but it is possible that Laurie doesn’t even know about the robbery, and Faye, Wayne, and Harley acted on their own. Well, that was what I was thinking until episode 5 of Euphoria season 3, but then, Alamo dropped an important clue that changed my perspective completely. In episode 5, Alamo, while trying to solve the mystery around the robbery, asked his right-hand man, Bishop, if Rue used to live with Laurie’s gang (meaning she was close to them), how come she didn’t recognize their voices when they broke into the club. The simplest answer here could be that, in the heat of the moment, Rue didn’t pay much attention to their voices. The two masked men were waving guns around and even fired at Big Eddy, and in the midst of such chaos, Rue might have failed to recognize Wayne and Harley’s voices. However, after this information came to light (or to Alamo’s mind), he started to suspect that Rue might still be working as Laurie’s snitch to infiltrate Alamo’s gang and weaken them from within. This was the whole reason why Alamo had trust issues with Rue and asked Bishop to investigate her further. The thing is, Bishop already suspects Rue, because in the episode, he mentioned that ever since she joined the gang, bad things started happening. And I don’t think that’s a mere coincidence.

Only we (as the audience) know that Rue has nothing to do with the robbery, and it’s likely that Wayne, Harley, and Faye attacked the Silver Slipper (either on their own or on Laurie’s orders). But there’s another possibility as well. Alamo said Rue didn’t recognize Harley and Wayne’s voices, which could mean that the masked gangsters who robbed the club weren’t Harley and Wayne, but someone else entirely. Bishop came up with CCTV footage, and Rue confirmed that it was Faye sitting in the vehicle the robbers used to escape. But the thing is, the CCTV footage showed a girl with “big lips,” and that could be anyone, so what if it wasn’t Faye?

My theory is that it was the DEA who organized the robbery, because officers Bowman and Jimenez had planted a bug on Rue’s phone to collect evidence against Alamo, and if Alamo had found out that the DEA had been keeping an eye on him, he would have simply gone underground. At the end of season 3, episode 4, Magick suspected that Rue was a snitch and asked Big Eddy to check her phone, which could have jeopardized the DEA’s entire operation so in order to save the operation (not Rue), they sent two cops in masks to rob the place to create a diversion and shoot Big Eddy so he wouldn’t be able to check Rue’s phone or even remember anything about Magick’s accusations. Also, to make it clear, I don’t think it was Bowman and Jimenez behind the masks (because Jimenez has a paunch and the robbers looked pretty fit), but someone else entirely, which was why Rue failed to recognize their “voices.”

Coming back to the CCTV footage, the reason I think the DEA brought in a girl who looked like Faye was that they wanted to fuel the feud between Laurie and Alamo. Earlier, in season 3, episode 2, when Rue drove Angel to a rehab center, the camera had cut to the hand of a man holding a cigarette, watching Rue from a distance. At first, I thought it was Bishop (keeping an eye on Rue), but when episode 5 showed the same hand in the same position, it became clear that it was Bowman (the cigarette guy) and Jimenez following Rue, waiting for an opportunity to arrest her and threaten her into snitching on Alamo and Laurie. And if the DEA had been following Rue, then they likely were aware of the brewing rivalry between Laurie and Alamo, which was why they swapped Laurie’s drugs (which Alamo had paid for and Rue was carrying) for sugar pills and laxatives. This would have made Alamo more furious than before, accusing Laurie of selling him fake drugs, after which he wouldn’t have listened to a word from her before declaring war on her, which had always been the DEA’s endgame. However, their plan backfired when Magick asked Big Eddy to check Rue’s phone, since if Alamo had found out that Rue was a snitch, then he would have blamed Rue for swapping the drugs, and things would have gone back to normal between Laurie and Alamo. So it could be possible that in order to save the operation and remove the fake drugs from the locker, the DEA robbed the Silver Slipper and tried to pin the blame on Laurie and her gang to escalate the tensions between them.

I have one last theory, and I could be totally wrong here, but I think the woman in the CCTV footage wasn’t Faye, but Angel (the girl who used to work at Alamo’s strip club before he sent her off to rehab because she was making too much noise). You might have noticed that both Angel and Faye had similar-looking lips, which brings me to the possibility that it could be Angel who planned the robbery to avenge her best friend, Tish’s death. Before leaving Angel at the rehab, Rue had told her that Tish had died of a drug overdose. However, what Rue didn’t mention is that Tish died because Wayne added some extra fentanyl to the pills that took Tish’s life. Hence, Angel always suspected that some foul play was involved in Tish’s death, and till the very end, she held Alamo and his gang responsible for her best friend’s tragic demise. This would give Angel enough reason to strike back at Alamo. In addition to that, Magick mentioned that Angel had run away from rehab and disappeared. So no one really knows where Angel is right now. She could be wandering the streets, she could already be dead, she might have joined hands with the DEA, or maybe she somehow masterminded the robbery after getting mixed up with some rough sorts.

And last but not least, the reason why Bishop called Rue a devil (not literally) whose arrival had brought a cascade of trouble, was that it all started with Rue. It was she who brought in the pills that killed Tish and started a war between Laurie and Alamo. It was Rue who told Angel about Tish’s death, which crushed her completely and kept her from focusing on the job, because of which Alamo had to send her away. And even though Alamo didn’t bring this up, I think Angel was one of the most popular girls in his club, and brought in a lot of regular customers. Lastly, the DEA targeted Rue because she was the weakest member of Alamo’s gang, whom they knew wouldn’t go to prison for him, and it makes complete sense. Rue doesn’t aspire to become a gangster or a drug dealer. She just wants to live a peaceful life, but Laurie’s unpaid debt dragged her into the criminal world once again, where Rue was forced to do anything and everything in her power to survive. So the moment someone offered her a way out of the mess, she quickly took the bait, but unfortunately, it came at a cost. At the end of season 3, episode 5, Alamo suspects Rue to be a rat, but I don’t think he’s gonna kill her, as he will quickly figure out that Rue had nothing to do with the robbery, and she’s completely clean. Yes, I don’t think Alamo will find out that she’s working for the DEA, at least not so soon, because if he does, that will be the end of Rue, and I am pretty sure that she’s gonna survive till the end of the season. Well, I am keeping my fingers crossed but do let me know what you think Alamo is going to do with Rue in the comments below.
