KUCHING, May 13: The RM62 million Kapit-Baleh electricity supply project is currently under implementation and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2027.

Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and Petros) Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the “Kapit-Baleh 33kV Medium Voltage Covered Conductor (MVCC) transmission line” project is being funded by Sarawak Energy as part of ongoing efforts to expand electricity supply to rural interior areas.

“The government through Sarawak Energy is also studying the feasibility of extending grid connections to longhouses in the Baleh area after the project is completed,” he said.

He said this during the question-and-answer session at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.

Meanwhile, he said a proposed MVCC project and a 33/11kV substation for the Tunoh settlement area have been submitted for consideration and funding approval under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). — DayakDaily
