Batang Lupar Bridge 1 stays open, JKR Sarawak refutes viral closure rumours

KUCHING, June 4: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has clarified that viral claims regarding the closure of Batang Lupar Bridge 1 on June 7 are false.

In a statement today, JKR Sarawak confirmed that the Batang Lupar Bridge 1 will remain open to road users as usual.

“JKR Sarawak wishes to clarify that the viral information on the closure of Batang Lupar Bridge 1 on June 7, 2026, is not true,” the department said.

The agency added that while the bridge remains fully operational, minor works are still being carried out in the surrounding area.

Road users have been advised to exercise caution and comply with all traffic safety instructions and signage placed at the site.

JKR Sarawak also urged the public to verify information through its official communication channels to avoid the spread of misinformation. — DayakDaily
