Diners Allegedly Throw Porridge, Drinks At Each Other Over Seats At S'pore Food Court | WeirdKaya
What started off as a tense exchange over seating arrangements escalated into a fight after two diners squared off by allegedly throwing food and drinks at each other.

The fight eventually ended in one of the diners being admitted to the hospital due to breathing difficulties.

What husband alleged

According to Shin Min Daily News, the fight took place at the Haig Road Market & Food Centre at around 10.10am on Wednesday (June 3).

When a reporter spoke to Lin, the husband of one of the diners involved, he said his wife had bought herself some porridge and was looking for a table so she could keep an eye on their stall while eating.

“She found a table where there was a man already seated there and sat across from him, which made him upset.

“I was having a quick smoke nearby when I got a call from my wife telling me that she had gotten into an argument with the man.”

When Lin rushed over, he saw that the man was about to throw something at his wife but stopped in his tracks when he saw Lin approaching.

Lin also alleged that the man had thrown the porridge at his wife.

Lin added that he had set up his stall at the food court two weeks ago and never expected such an incident would occur.

He also said his wife, who suffers from asthma, was so shaken by the incident that she was admitted to the hospital for breathing difficulties.

Shin Min tried talking to the man to get his side of the story, but he repeatedly declined.

Eyewitness’ account of events

Liu, the owner of a drinks stall at the food court and a witness to the incident, told Shin Min that the matter was a minor argument that spiralled out of control.

“The woman kept walking in and out of the hawker centre as she was watching her stall. The man felt disturbed by it, and this led to an argument.

“Later, both started throwing food and drinks at each other, including the porridge the woman had bought,” he said.

Liu added that he contacted the police when he saw Lin getting ready to get physical with the man who allegedly assaulted his wife.

When contacted, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed receiving a report about the incident and an individual being taken to the hospital.
