F1 Monaco: Antonelli Wins as Verstappen, Leclerc Crash Out

Monte Carlo, June 7, 2026

Kimi Antonelli dominated an eventful Monaco Grand Prix to claim his fifth win of the season, extending his lead in the F1 Standings while his team mate George Russell failed to score. The sixth round of the season descended into mayhem on the streets of Monte Carlo, delivering one of the most dramatic afternoons of the F1 Live broadcast calendar so far.

Verstappen's Race Over Before It Began

At lights out in Monaco, the Mercedes racer calmly maintained first place as Red Bull's Max Verstappen faced a devastating issue at the start that saw him slide down the order before he became the first to DNF. The Dutchman stalled on the grid and retired without completing a proper lap.

Late Drama: Russell Penalised, Leclerc Crashes Out

The race turned on its head in the closing laps. George Russell suffered a dismal day, investigated for a list of infringements before being given a five-second penalty for pit lane speeding. He failed to serve it at his next stop, upgrading the punishment to a drive-through that dropped him out of the points entirely.

Home hero Charles Leclerc then crashed out from a podium position when the track surface began breaking up at the final corner, triggering a red flag on Lap 68 of 78.
