'Dutton Ranch' Episode 6 Teaser Breakdown: Is Rob-Will Back In Rio Paloma?

[Spoiler Alert] The fifth episode of Dutton Ranch ended with two major revelations: Beulah Jackson’s notorious son, Rob-Will, who is also a drug addict, has escaped from the Sedona rehab center and returned to Rio Paloma to make everyone’s lives messier than they already are. The second revelation centers around Rip, who finally confides to Beth that someone from the 10 Petal Ranch buried a body on their land, which he has gotten rid of for their own good, but he still wasn’t sure who dumped Wes Ayers on their ranch in the first place. As viewers, we know it was the mischievous Rob-Will, who did it so that the Jacksons couldn’t be held accountable for Wes’ death and disappearance. He probably would have thought it was a smart move to put the body on someone else’s ranch, but now that the corpse was missing, it had become a sort of ticking time bomb for the Jacksons, because if it ever surfaced, it could burn their entire empire to the ground. For those who don’t remember what happened to Wes’ corpse, in episode 2, Rip threw it into the Goliad mine shaft, so no one would ever be able to link the body to him or his family. So technically, Rip’s the only person who knows where Wes Ayers is, and if he manages to find out the truth about his murder, he can use that dead body as leverage against the Jacksons, and it seems like in episode 6, Rip’s already making his move.

In the teaser promo for Dutton Ranch episode 6, Rip and Joaquin are inside a car (probably Rip’s), driving slowly down a narrow road in the dark. There’s a gun in the center console compartment near Rip’s seat, and I think he’s the one who brought it along, likely to get information out of Joaquin. Meanwhile, Joaquin has a piece of cloth wrapped around one of his palms, suggesting the two (Rip and Joaquin) had some kind of physical altercation before this scene, and Rip either broke his wrist or slit his palm to threaten Joaquin to sit in his car so the two can have a nice little chat. And as soon as the camera cuts to Rip’s face, he quickly asks Joaquin, “Who put the body on my property?” Joaquin does know it was his brother, Rob-Will, who had put Wes’ body on the Dutton Ranch, because at the end of episode 1, Rob-Will took Joaquin to the burial site, but the corpse was missing, because Rip had already removed it. But a more interesting thing here is: Rip’s question about the corpse will make it clear to Joaquin that it was Rip who removed that dead body, and he’s the only person who knows where it is. I also think that Rip has an idea that it was Beulah’s biological son who buried his mess on his property, which, I guess, is the reason why Rip asked Beulah about Rob-Will the first time he met her. Maybe it was the fight between Rip and Rob-Will in episode 1 that suggested to Rip that it was Beulah’s junkie son’s doing. And now that Rob-Will is back in town, his impulsive and violent behavior is going to make things more complicated.

In the second sequence, we see Beth walking into a corporate office (probably in Dallas) with Beulah, which suggests that Beth has officially started working for the Jacksons. In the next shot, Beth and Beulah are sitting in front of a man, who I believe could be Zane Nash, the director of Frontier Hospitality Group, the company that supplies packaged beef to almost all the big hotels and restaurants in Dallas. In episode 3, Moore, the manager of Hotel Swexan, after being impressed by the quality of her Black Angus beef, asked Beth to meet Zane Nash, who could help her get her business running, and now that Beth works for Beulah, I believe she brings Beulah to meet Zane Nash, so he will take 10 Petal Ranch on as one of his suppliers and start supplying their high-quality beef to their customers. And with Beth present in that meeting, I think whoever this person is, he won’t be able to say no to Beth, so that may be the first great victory coming out of Beth and Beulah’s newfound partnership.

In the next sequence, Everett McKinney is at Beulah’s mansion, where Beulah tells him, “Change is on the horizon,” and McKinney asks, “Is that a good thing?” I think Beulah is referring to Beth’s proposal here, as well as her promise to make 10 Petal Ranch a household name, so she no longer has to depend on shady operations to uphold her legacy. So, to answer McKinney’s question, I think Beth’s a blessing in disguise in Beulah’s life, who will help her to protect her empire from foreign threats and bring stability to her business, so she doesn’t have to mix with the wrong crowd anymore. But this will only happen if Beulah lets Beth really help her, and more importantly, is able to stop her children, Joaquin and Rob-Will, from picking another fight with Rip and Beth. However, you may ask what McKinney’s doing at Beulah’s place, especially with his shirt all open. “Is that a good thing?” Possibly something’s cooking between the two old lovers.

Next, we see Chet Davis, Rob-Will’s friend and Beulah’s former foreman, walking in the dark. His expression tells me that he’s looking to knock someone down. Well, maybe he’s going to settle his score with Austin, who, in episode 5, had thrown a punch at him. In the following shot, Rob-Will points a gun at some random guy again, possibly at the motel where Chet has been staying. I think by now it’s quite evident that Rob-Will’s a loose cannon who can’t stay out of trouble for long, and Beulah may really have to get rid of him if she wants her new partnership with Beth to flourish so she can leave something behind for her granddaughter. Because you see, Rob-Will’s nothing but a liability who will destroy everything the family has built over 190 years. There’s also a shot where we see the back of a man (likely Chet) standing beside an unknown man lying on the street, and a car (possibly Rob-Will’s) driving towards them. Has Rob-Will killed again? I am not sure, but the way bodies keep turning up, Rio Paloma, Sheriff Wade won’t be able to control his temper for long before he unleashes his fury upon the Jacksons.

In the final sequence, we see Joaquin trying to convince someone to put the gun down, and the camera quickly cuts to Rip, and then back to Joaquin, who is now sitting on the ground, begging for his life. Joaquin doesn’t have a bandage on his hand here, but it looks like his palm is bleeding. It could be that this scene happened before Rip forced him into his car. Well, we will find out as soon as the episode drops this Friday.

There are a few other shots in the teaser, like the one of Beth and Beulah sitting in a bar, which I think takes place after their meeting, then we have a shot of Beulah in her car, travelling to a place which, from the background, seems like an airport. Probably Beulah and Beth take Beulah’s private jet to meet the potential client in the city. Carter and Oreana are missing from the teaser. I think after Dwight’s murder in the previous episode, Carter’s been shaken to the core, and maybe in the sixth episode, we will get a scene where he will try to share his grief with Oreana. But I don’t think, other than that, Carter and Oreana will have much of a role to play in episode 6, as it is going to center around Rob-Will’s return to Rio Paloma, and the body he had buried on the Dutton Ranch. Well, these are my expectations from the next episode, but if you have anything else to add or share, please feel free to comment below.
