Teen boy found drowned after falling into drain

KAJANG – A 16-year-old boy was found drowned after he was believed to have fallen into a drain near the gate of a college in Bangi on Wednesday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations deputy director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.23pm.

“Four officers and firefighters from the Semenyih Fire and Rescue Station, along with one fire engine, were deployed to the location, which is about 13 kilometres away.

“Preliminary information from the victim’s friend indicated that the teenage boy is believed to have fallen into the drain before being swept away by the current,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ashrul said the victim was later found about two kilometres from the location where he was reported to have fallen, in a water catchment area.

“However, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene. The fire department has handed the case over to the police for further action,” he said.
