Taking to Threads, the woman shared that she had since resigned and lodged a report with the Labour Department over the matter.
Worked from 7am to 6pmAccording to the woman, she was required to report for work at 7am and would only finish at 6pm.
Although she was technically given a three hour break, she claimed that the time was often used to prepare lesson plans and activities for the following day.
“Sometimes, it was not even really a break because we still had to prepare the lesson plan and activities,” she explained in the comments.
Despite the long working hours, she said her monthly salary remained at RM1,600.
She also claimed that she was promised an increase to RM1,700 after completing six months of work. However, even after reaching the six month mark, her salary allegedly remained unchanged.
“When I asked about the promised RM1,700 salary, they kept quiet,” she wrote.
However, the salary issue was not the only concern she raised.
EPF and SOCSO allegedly deducted but not creditedThe woman claimed that her payslip showed deductions for EPF and SOCSO.
However, when she checked the respective applications, she alleged that no contributions had been credited to her accounts.
She said staff members later questioned the employer about the missing contributions, but claimed that they did not receive a clear explanation.
Instead, she alleged that the employer portrayed themselves as the victim when workers raised concerns.
With several unresolved issues piling up, the woman eventually decided to leave the job.
Claims salary was held after she resignedAfter submitting one month’s resignation notice, the teacher claimed that her salary was held until July 6, 2026.
She questioned why the employer appeared unwilling to allow staff members to resign despite the concerns raised about their wages and contributions.
Her experience soon caught the attention of other kindergarten workers, many of whom said they had gone through similar situations.
Other kindergarten workers share similar experiencesIn the comments, one person who claimed to be a former private kindergarten principal said her salary was below RM2,000 and did not even reach RM1,800.
Another commenter alleged that her monthly salary was inconsistent and could fall as low as RM400 to RM500, despite regularly working two to three hours of overtime.
Meanwhile, others questioned why kindergarten and childcare workers were paid so little when parents often had to pay high fees.
One commenter also pointed out that some workers had to cover additional expenses such as parking, which could reportedly cost up to RM300 a month without reimbursement.
As more workers shared their stories, several users advised the teacher to lodge an official complaint.
Report lodged with Labour DepartmentResponding to the comments, the woman said she had already visited the Subang Jaya Labour Office and was waiting for further action.
She also encouraged another worker who shared a similar experience to lodge a complaint so that the employer could be investigated.
