M'sian Law Student Fined RM500 For Letting Her Bank Account Be Used For Illegal Transactions | WeirdKaya

Nicole Soo Lik Yee, who studies at a private college in Petaling Jaya, made the plea before Sessions Judge Madihah Zainol, reported The Star.
According to the charge sheet, Soo allegedly helped a 32-year-old male victim transfer RM525 into her bank account through dishonest means on Jalan Idaman 8/10, Taman Nusa Idaman at 4.31pm on June 13.
She was charged under Section 424 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine, or both upon conviction.
Fined RM500Deputy public prosecutor Shamira Mohd Luthfi Ismail prosecuted the case, while Soo was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer K. Bharathi.
Barathi pleaded with the judge to give a light sentence, saying that Soo was dependent on her grandfather following her parents’ divorce.
Soo was fined RM500 in default of one month in jail.
