Netflix’s Tires Season 3 Cast And Characters Guide

Beginning its journey with short comedy sketches to becoming one of the most popular Netflix originals, Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben and John McKeever’s workplace comedy series “Tires” turned out to be one of the first YouTube to bigger platform success stories. Thanks to the authentic, realistic dynamics between the cast of misfits, the humor of “Tires” feels much more organic and relatable than most other contemporary series made in similar strain. In the recently released third season, characterization plays a pivotal role in showcasing the growth of core players of the series, while also establishing the direction of their arc for the upcoming continuation.

Will Jacobs Played by Will Gerben

Prolific comedian and actor Will Gerben began his career as a stand up comedian, before partnering up with fellow comedian Shane Gillis, which led to creation of series like “Gilly and Keeves,” “Delco Proper” etc. The duo went on to create “Tires,” which is partly based on Gerben’s real life experience in an auto-repair shop owned by his family. In the series, he plays the role of Will Jacobs, neurotic, socially clueless manager and co-owner of Valley Forge auto repair chain. Gullible to a fault and lacking the grit it takes to run a business, Will often finds himself in exceedingly bizarre situations over which he has no control. Marred by a plethora of insecurities, Will’s desperation to fit in and prove himself results in hilariously disastrous consequences. Despite not having qualities of a traditional leader, Will is kind and compassionate towards his employees, which is quite noticeable in the third season as well. In the latest chapter, Will’s arc shapes up cantering on his aspiration of creating his own foundation, as he decides to leave the family business after realizing how unappreciated he is under Phil’ s leadership. However, even that chance is taken away from him by the end, landing him back to the same miserable spot all over again. For what it’s worth, as a co-owner of the business, Will is going to have more freedom and responsibilities in the next season.

Shane Jacobs Played by Shane Gillis

Comedian, actor and producer Shane Gillis found recognition with “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast” before showcasing his comedic flair with comedy specials like “Shane Gillis: Live in Austin,” “Shane Gillis: Beautiful Dogs” etc. Partnering up with fellow comedian Will Gerben, John McKeever, Shane co-created “Tires”, where he stars as Will Jacob’s eccentric, obnoxious cousin Shane Jacobs, co-owner and mechanic of Valley Forge auto repair chain. A perfect foil to his diffident, nervous cousin, Shane is confident, smart, selfish and lazy yet quite perceptive individual. However, as the third season highlights, his attempt to derive humour and make light of every situation is rooted in his insecurities and unwillingness to accept that he is somewhat of a manchild who is afraid of growth and change. As the midlife crisis hits Shane hard in the third season, his fear about mortality, desire for a stable family life, insecurities about changing his perspective and worldview starts surfacing.  Shane’s indecisiveness is highlighted in the way he ends up ruining his relationship with both Jill and Lucy. However, the ending of the season prepares him for the most significant phase of his life, for which Shane needs to give up his casual approach and step up big time. The news of Lucy’s pregnancy has already made Shane realize that he can have the stable family life he secretly wanted, if he manages to prove that he can shoulder the responsibilities that comes with it.

Dave Played by Stavros Halkias

Greek-American comedian/ actor Stavros Halkias has previously acted in movies like “Call Girl of Cthulhu,” “Let’s Start a Cult,” “Bugonia” and in series such as “Command Z,” “Pause with Sam Jay” etc. In “Tires”, he plays the role of Dave, the eccentric, comically competitive middle management officer of Valley Forge auto repair chain, who finds delight in making employees of the company suffer. Downright crude, greedy and perverted, Dave’s antics make up for some of the funniest moments of the series. In the third season, Dave is caught between saving his failing marriage with his wife, Barb, and being exploited by a toxic sales rep who tries to exploit his lecherous tendencies. In the end, things resolve in the most bizarre way possible, cutting off any chance of growth Dave had as a character.

Miscellaneous Characters

Aside from the leads, third season of “Tires” boasts of a strong ensemble as supporting characters as the actors portraying the core Valley Forge team reprise their roles from previous seasons. Chris O’Connor plays the role of Cal, mechanic of the auto-repair shop and is a good friend of Shane. Kilah Fox plays the role of Kilah, receptionist/ employee of the shop who shares a good rapport with Will and Shane. Thomas Haden Church plays the role of Phil Jacobs, Shane’s rich father and owner of the auto repair chain who hands over the company to Shane and Will in the end. Several actors joined the third season of “Tires” as new characters who might or might not return in the upcoming seasons.  Billy Magnussen plays Will’s old friend Taylor, Sofia Hasmik plays the role of Lucy, a liberal minded waitress and Shane’s love interest. Dan Soder joins as an eccentric car enthusiast, Frank, who befriends Cal. Bobby Lee plays the role of Ricky, owner of the Korean tire brand who craves validation of his disdainful father. Rachel Blanchard plays the role of Phil’s spiritual-minded girlfriend, Bonnie, and Garret Dilahunt plays the role of Frank’s neo-nazi elder brother, Thatch.
