Does Hae-kang Regret For Not Calling Yong-man As His Father? When Yong-man retired, Hae-kang, Je-hil, Gyeong-nam and Big Guy gave him a retirement dinner to thank him for his contributions. That was the day when Hae-kang asked for Yong-man’s permission to call him as his own father; since the veteran gangster was not used to being emotional, he turned him down in front of the whole gang. Years later, just before Yong-man died, he referred to Hae-kang as his own son and the man just stood there with tears in his eyes. Hae-kang did not say anything back because he was too overwhelmed to do so. When he goes to the noodle station and sits at the same table where the retirement party is thrown, Hae-kang feels sad to see the empty chair. Somewhere deep down, he regrets not calling Yong-man his father when he was counting the last few hours of his life on that hospital bed. Hae-kang also regrets not guarding his cabin with enough security; he blames himself for letting Chung-won kill Yong-man.
Why Does Suk-jin Turn Down Chung-won‘s Offer? There are some people in this world who do not prefer to be suppressed with money and they can never be bought – they prefer to be honest and speak the truth, no matter how difficult things are. Suk-jin is one of those few people who can not be lured with money; all her life, she has been a single mother who did not ask for help from anyone else. Since she is leading the Taesan Construction protests, Chung-won offers her a brand new luxurious penthouse in one of his buildings but Suk-jin humbly refuses. She has already seen the state of the buildings that Taesan has constructed (debris inside hollowed out walls) and she is not ready to believe him again. But most importantly, Suk-jin knows that Chung-won is a dirty Chairman, who must have stolen all the money from the long term reserve funds. She hates people like Chung-won who thinks that they can own people if they throw a bundle of cash on their faces; that’s why Suk-jin reacts with such animosity.
What Forces Chung-won To Allow Ju-gwon To The One Club For Free?Chung-won initially wanted ten billion won from Police Commissioner Ju-gwon to allow him as a member of the invite-only One Club since it’s the standard joining fee. However, he changes his mind because of the latest developments following the shoddy construction works getting exposed. Taesan’s shares have faced a major dip in the market; media houses, who once flattered Chung-won, are gathering every piece of information to publish stories against the company. Plus, Chung-won needs the Yong-man murder case to stay under wraps until he has killed Hae-kang and the best case scenario is to stay in Ju-gwon’s favor. The Police Commissioner can turn a few media outlets in Taesan’s favor because Chung-won is not going to earn any profit until the smear campaign completely goes away. Due to the current situation, Chung-won feels completely powerless and that’s why he lets Ju-gwon walk all over him.
Why Do The One Club Members Revolt Against Chung-won?Everyone at The One Club, including the News Editor, the Prosecutor, and the Judge, gets frustrated to see Ju-gwon get accepted into the organization. Although Chung-won does not reveal if he has paid in full or not, the members guess that this may be the Taesan boss’s plan. Before Chung-won got exposed for his poor construction efforts, he had always kept the powerful chaebols as his pawns – whoever went against him, ended up being plant food in Taegowon, his private Pine garden. The One Club members have been afraid of Chung-won but now, they want to get rid of him as soon as possible. They consider him a burden on their shoulders since he has become instrumental for the city’s downfall. To get himself out of misery and earn back the trust he has lost, Chung-won has slashed apartment prices. Even though he has attracted hordes of people, he has deliberately caused real estate prices in the Oman Province to plummet downwards, thus causing trouble for all the chaebols. Since the Oman New Town is Chung-won‘s project, they even plan to backstab him by hiring a new contractor. In that way, Chung-won will not be able to lay a finger on any one of them if things ever go wrong.
How Do Hae-kang And His Family Recover The Embezzled Funds?Since Chung-won has stolen the seventeen billion won, Hae-kang assembles his family, takes Choi and Suk-jin to narrow down the possible location of his money. Although they take aerial images of Taegowon and Hae-kang visits the place, he realizes that Chung-won is planning to move the money. The botched rescue mission happens because Chung-won and his assistant, Mr. Kim, know that they are being followed while the money is being transported. Chung-won does pretty well by deploying several decoy cars but he fails to save the money since he has always underestimated Hae-kang. After Chung-won hides the cash inside one of his rooms, he feels confident as he thinks that it is untraceable. But his trick falls flat once Suk-jin and Ha-ri analyze the apartment.
It turns out that since Chung-won owns the room, he has set the maintenance on autopay, even though there’s zero electricity usage for months. Once Hae-kang notices this unique room, he and his team break in, and find billions lying on the floor. While Hae-kang’s team takes turns guarding the cash and makes an announcement about it in the morning, they all make a big mistake by trusting Lizard. All this time, he has played the role of a sweet gentleman; once Hae-kang and Ha-ri leave, he snuck in and usurped all the cash, leaving behind crates full of fliers. Lizard is so unapologetic that he drops a text to Hae-kang about the robbery. His actions create a huge stir, leaving the residents of True Value Apartment wondering about Hae-kang and his team’s integrity. Will Hae-kang be able to restore his image?
