ATM deploys personnel to deliver water supplies to drought-hit areas in Betong

KUCHING (Aug 28): The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) has launched a humanitarian operation to provide water supplies to communities affected by the ongoing dry and hot weather in Betong Division.
The Eastern Field Command said an officer and 14 personnel from the 13th Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment, based at Pakit Camp, had been deployed together with two four-wheel-drive vehicles to assist in delivering water and providing logistical support to affected areas.
“The operation commenced on Aug 27 at 2pm and is scheduled to last until Sept 10, depending on the current situation.
“The operation focuses on delivering drinking water to folks in affected villages, particularly in Kampung Batang Maro and the surrounding areas that are experiencing water supply disruptions,” it said in a statement.
The operation is being carried out in coordination with the Betong Resident’s Office and the Social Welfare Department.
