Fire destroys generator powering telco tower in Jalan Kuap

SIBURAN, Sept 16: A generator supplying electricity to a telecommunications tower was completely destroyed in a fire at Jalan Kuap this afternoon.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Siburan responded to the emergency call at 2.27pm and immediately dispatched a team of firefighters to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the generator, which provided power to the telecommunications tower, was 100 per cent destroyed in the fire.

Firefighters carried out extinguishing operations using water drawn from an open water source. A relay pumping system was established using a 300-foot hose line connected to a Godiva 8/5 portable pump, while an additional 800-foot hose line fitted with a nozzle was deployed to the fire area.

The fire was brought under control at 3.10pm through an offensive firefighting operation and was subsequently extinguished completely.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

After ensuring there were no remaining hotspots and that the area was safe, firefighters concluded the operation at 4.10pm. — DayakDaily
