Amanah urges Negeri Sembilan MB to dissolve state assembly

SHAH ALAM - Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has urged Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim to seek the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) following the crisis that continues to worsen in the state.

Amanah secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said this was because the clash between the executive and the palace ran contrary to the spirit and principles of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution (UUTKNS) 1959.

According to him, Amanah believes that political turmoil which is poorly managed by Umno could threaten the stability of the state government's administration.

"Amanah's position is that Umno has failed to respect the standing of the Malay royal institution by taking steps to dethrone the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan as though it were a coup d'etat.

"The actions taken by Umno clearly go against the wishes of the people of Negeri Sembilan, given that the recent Negeri Sembilan state election (PRN) was never intended to undermine the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan," he said in a statement on Monday.

Faiz added that Amanah's position was not to interfere in the crisis surrounding the Yang di-Pertuan Besar's standing, as the matter should be resolved in accordance with the law, the Constitution and the customs of Negeri Sembilan.

He also said the snap Negeri Sembilan state election was held as a result of pressure from certain parties seeking to dethrone the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan amid the ongoing political turmoil in the state.

"This is reinforced by the proclamation signed by the Menteri Besar shortly after the Negeri Sembilan state election, on Aug 3, 2026.

"The current political situation has worsened further after the Menteri Besar openly rejected the decree," he said.
