'Kill Jackie' Episode 2 Recap & Ending Explained: Who Killed Charlie?

Someone wants Jackie Price dead, and they are ready to go to any length to get rid of her, but the question that still lingers is why? In episode 2 of Kill Jackie, we discover that Jackie, who once used to be an infamous coke dealer, had decided to retire twenty years ago, and a lot of her business associates were not happy with her decision. If she wasn’t of any use to them, they wanted her dead, but Jackie evidently managed to survive. She had the right contacts, who helped her in a time of crisis, but what if someone from her past hadn’t forgiven her for the damage she had caused, and they were the ones trying to make Jackie’s life difficult?

Spoiler Alert

How did Jackie fool Karenina?

In the previous episode, we were introduced to Karenina, a contract killer who shared a good rapport with Jackie, but then she joined the Seven Demons, and even though she liked Jackie, she had no choice but to do her job well. Someone had paid the Seven Demons to get rid of Jackie, and considering Karenina had a fair idea of how Jackie operated, she took up the challenge and targeted Jackie’s business associate, Tucker. Jackie used to buy art from Tucker; they never met, and she preferred to modify her voice while talking to him because she didn’t want to reveal her identity. But as luck would have it, Tucker got pulled into this mess as well, and Jackie was left with no other option but to abandon the pretense. Karenina contacted Jackie after blowing up her warehouse and she told her that she would do anything to find her.

Jackie, Sam, and Charlie have made it to the safe house, their plan is to lay low, until things settle down. But Karenina obviously won’t let that happen. She makes Tucker talk to Jackie, and when Jackie asks him if he has been taken by the Seven Demons, he denies it (Karenina asks him to do so). He adds that he narrowly escaped from them, and as a result, he doesn’t have any money on him, so he desperately needs hard cash and he hopes that Jackie will help him out. He asks Jackie to meet him at Bilbao, but Jackie isn’t convinced. She struggles to trust him, but then Tucker proposes something she can’t ignore, he tells her that if she shows up, he will give her the name of the individual who has hired the Seven Demons to get rid of her. Jackie decides to meet Don Markel, the mafia head of Bilbao, and we discover that his father had played a decisive role in Jackie’s life. He’d helped her transition from being a coke dealer to an art dealer, and Jackie remains immensely grateful to the family. She asks Don Markel for his help in exchange for the dedication she has shown his family for the last twenty years. She mentions that she needs to move two civilians out of the country safely, and she needs a local friendly cop who will happily accept bribes and overlook her crimes. Don Markel reassures her that he’ll arrange for both; he already has a cargo ship leaving at night, and Jackie figures she can send Sam and Charlie to Tangier for the time being.

Jackie contacts Poltergeist and gets hold of a device that can hack into surveillance cameras and project false images. Jackie kept all her money with Poltergeist, a secretive high-profile banking company located in Iceland. Since she was a valued client, she could opt for their concierge service and order anything from anywhere in the world, and Poltergeist would find a way to deliver it to her. She asks Charlie to use the device to fool the Seven Demons, especially Karenina. While Karenina will be busy tracking her false images, Jackie plans to make contact with Tucker and find out what’s going on. The plan works, Karenina is left completely confused, and Jackie manages to get hold of Tucker. She realizes that her guess was right, the Seven Demons have used Tucker to get to her, and she is extremely disappointed in him. But before she can even deal with him, Charlie warns her that Sam is heading to the market square. Sam had started a fire in her apartment out of sheer callousness, and he figured he might as well walk to the embassy and get help. The Cowboy, who works for the Seven Dragons, gets hold of Sam, and asks Jackie to put her gun down if she wants her friend to be safe. But Jackie doesn’t listen; this isn’t the first time she’s facing someone like the Cowboy, and she figures it’s better to act immediately. She shoots the Cowboy and rescues Sam, and Karenina figures it’s time to bring in the number 2 killer.

Is Jackie Charlie’s mother?

Charlie’s unwavering loyalty surprised Sam; he wondered what was so special about Jackie. Well, there’s an emotional backstory that explains why Charlie loves and supports Jackie, even at her worst. Charlie used to be a diver, and Jackie was her secret sponsor; it was quite a big deal for her. She was an orphan, and it wasn’t an everyday occurrence that someone without any self-interest sponsored their dreams. Although Sam didn’t think donating drug money to an orphan should be celebrated, for Charlie it didn’t really matter. She wasn’t privileged enough to care, Jackie had been there for her when she had no one, so she now feels the need to support her. While going through her drug drawer, Charlie discovers a pregnancy test strip with a positive result and ultrasound photos. She wonders if Jackie is her birth mother, and if that’s the reason why she has financially supported her all these years. She decides to confront Jackie, and is extremely heartbroken when she finds out that she’d jumped to the wrong conclusion. The test result and the ultrasound photos unfortunately had nothing to do with her, and Jackie notices the disappointment on her face. She storms out, and while Jackie tries to stop her, she doesn’t listen. Charlie decides to leave with Sam in the cargo ship that Don Markel had arranged for. Considering how surprised Jackie appeared to be when Charlie asked her the question, it suggests that she was telling the truth; Charlie wasn’t her daughter, but she surely cared about her as her own.

Who hired the Seven Demons?

The Seven Demons were hired by “The Yank,” whose real name is Sean Harper. Since Charlie had forgotten to get rid of her SIM card after the auction, he tracked the number and found out about Jackie and decided to destroy her. Sean is evidently a privileged young man who took it way too personally when his offer during the auction was rejected. To establish that he shouldn’t be messed with, Sean hired the Seven Demons. He has the money to use such a high-profile assassin group for something so petty, and he is slightly disappointed to find out that Jackie is still alive. “The Doc,” a member of the Seven Demons, reaches out to him and tells him that although Jackie Price is still alive, she is sure that they will manage to take her down. Sean obviously has paid a huge sum of money to get his desired result, and the Doc felt it was necessary to let him know that they will do everything possible to take down Jackie. Now, Jackie has already figured out who’s behind the whole mess; she had previously assumed it might be someone from the past, but the fact that it is “The Yank” doesn’t make it any better. She blames Charlie for the whole mess, reprimanding her for not being careful enough even though she’d repeatedly warned her of the trouble they could find themselves in.

Is Charlie dead?

Charlie feels she has disappointed Jackie by not being more careful. She’s also quite emotional because she briefly thought she might have found her mother. As flawed as Jackie is, Charlie was ready to accept her, because having someone to call family was all that mattered to her. And when Jackie denied her theory, she felt extremely heartbroken and couldn’t bear spending a second with her boss. Just as she was about to get on the boat with Sam, someone stabbed her from behind. Considering that Karenina had mentioned that it was time for them to bring on their number 2, it can be assumed that the killer is one of the Seven Demons. So, how did they find Charlie? Remember the “Billbaoristas” discount card that Charlie had? That’s probably what led to her death. Jackie had warned her to dump the card, fearing that Karenina would somehow manage to track it. Charlie promised to get rid of it, but she forgot to do so and she even ended up using the card near the port when she got coffee for the three of them. Jackie is devastated when she discovers that the killer has stabbed Charlie. She runs to her and tells her that she has always been her family, the fact that Jackie doesn’t confirm that Charlie is her daughter, even in her dying moment, further confirms that she isn’t her daughter. Charlie had noticed the tattoo on the calf of the killer, and she tells Jackie “keep the faith” before she succumbs to the injury. The killer had a “Northern Soul: Keep the Faith” tattoo and Charlie thought maybe this information could help Jackie track him down. Will Jackie manage to find the Northern Soul loyalist? Can she lure him with the promise of some rare record? Things have gotten a bit too personal for Jackie, and she surely will need some time to process Charlie’s demise. She has constantly been there for her, and she was someone Jackie could be completely honest with. Jackie will want to avenge Charlie, and she will do everything possible to find the killer and brutally end his life.
